My parents got me interesting in traveling at a young age. My father, a teacher, and mother would throw us kids in a car a couple days after school let out for the summer and off we'd go to travel the U.S. and Canada by car and camping in our tent along the way. We never knew when we'd return. Sometimes it was a couple weeks and sometimes it was seven. As we got older, we expanded to other countries. They taught my sisters and I the wonders of our wonderful nation and world.
Now that I have kids of my own, my husband and I want to share the magic of travel with them. We want them to get "outside the box" and see what the world has to offer. Visiting National Parks are always a big part of our vacations. What a wonderful treasure we as Americans have in our park system!
My advice to friends and family who him and haw over never going anyplace: Stop making excuses and just go and visit someplace new (or old).
