Sundance is a ski resort in the state of Utah, owned by Hollywood legend Robert Redford (the name derives, of course, from Redford's role in the seminal film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid). It is a great resort for skiing fans but also a family friendly holiday destination in its own right. And with a range of condo and apartment rentals in the area and in nearby Park City, it can make for a surprisingly low cost family holiday. Look carefully through the available rental homes to find the best deals for maximum money saving value.
Winter sports are of course the main attraction of Sundance ski resort, on the northeast slopes of Mount Timpanogos. It is an area geared towards confident and experienced skiing enthusiasts, with only 3 of the resort's 41 ski trails marked at the easiest level. Other than the skiing, the area's other principal draw is the annual Sundance Film Festival in Park City, about 30 miles from the Sundance Ski Resort. Also supported by Robert Redford, this event has become a major date in the calendar for independent film enthusiasts, and there is always a lot going on to keep family members of all ages entertained. Also in the summer there are ten miles of alpine trails over which you can go hiking or cycling, and horse riding. There are also opportunities for fly fishing for any keen anglers in the family.
With self-catering accommodation in the Sundance resort, and a wide range of condo and apartment rentals in the surrounding countryside and in nearby Park City, a trip to Sundance can be a money saving option. With prices for rental homes large enough for a family of four or more starting from around £652, it is certainly a much better value option than booking hotel rooms for your trip. And you'll also benefit from the added privacy of self-catered accommodation - not to mention the fact that apartment rentals are great for kids. There's plenty of space for the youngest members of the family to run around and let off steam without worrying about disturbing other guests.
