A warm welcome awaits you at Eskbank. You can Check-in from 3pm with a refreshing cup of tea/coffee & Scottish Shortbread. A tourist pack with details of great places to visit and where to eat along with details of local caterers, farm shops and where to buy great Scottish homemade pies will be given at time of booking or at enquiry stage via email. Plus information on fun activities in the area & details of local transport too. Parking is available for 2 cars in the private parking area belonging to the house. There is additional parking available within a 1 minute walk on a quiet no through road. Owners will be on hand via email or telephone to assist guests when needed.

Fabulous location near to local amenities and not far from Edinburgh. Beautiful surroundings and not too far away from the sea too! We visited a lovely park near by which was very dog friendly. We had a wonderful stay and were fortunate to be there...More

What a gorgeous house and wonderful hosts! I was in a huge double bedroom, and had access to a very newly renovated, ultramodern bathroom. The house was perfectly located in a lovely village with everything I needed within walking distance. Getting to Edinburgh was simple...More

About the neighbourhood
Eskbank is steeped in history & borders Dalkeith a town which grew out of agriculture. Coal-mining expanded in the 18th, 19th & early 20th Century and the town grew. In the 19th century Dalkeith became the main grain market in Scotland. Dalkeith Country House owned by the Duke of Buccleuch has wonderful parkland to explore. At Newbattle Abbey, you can take a tour of this former Cistercian monastery and discover more about its 900 year history. Several beautiful golf courses surround Eskbank now including Newbattle Golf Course, Broomieknowe Golf Course and Kings Acre. You can cycle along the Penicuik to Dalkeith Walkway - part of the National Cycle Network Route. Eskbank is a great location for exploring Edinburgh city too.
Getting around
Eskbank Station links you to the Borders in 30 minutes or within seconds of the house you can jump on the No.3 bus to take you into Edinburgh, it runs every 10 minutes. Of course you can uber a taxi to take you to the throbbing buzz of Festival life too ! The A1 is 3 mins away by car leading you to East Lothian beaches and Superb Links Golf courses of Gullane & North Berwick. The A720 just 2 mins away leads you towards M8 to Glasgow. St Andrews is only a 40 min drive away.
