Holiday in beautiful nature by the lake In the large cottage surrounded by the forest and garden
Our holiday in week 33 was very good in Ahvenkallio cottage Myrskylä. We - 6 adults and 2 children- enjoyed alot of swimming and sunbathe in good beach with the terrace on the lake and two piers. There was also rock cape from whitch we jumped to the lake. Weather was nice , 23C degrees and the water was lukewarm.
We hired two kayaks and did trips around the lake admireing rocky mountain shores of the lake and the river.. Ari our landlord let us use his fishtraps. We got more than 30 greyfishes whitch we cooked for last evening party in house illuminated terrace. We also grilled fish and vegetables in open flame grill.
Bedrooms were nice and separate in the upstairs giving us good sleep. It was nice to have breakfasts on the terraces and watching the lake view.
We also visited in the village by rowing boat and kayaks. There was fish smoking house shop with salmon products and a big food shop and Myrskytähti cafe with very good monks.
We also hiked in highland area about 1 km far from the house. There was only lichen and small pines and what a view to the lake and fields around and a lot of forest blueberries.
In the garden of the cottage we pick up red, green,white and black currants, raspberries and blueberries.
We also did airgun shooting and played badminton on green lawn. And of course jumped on a big trampoline.
Thank you Ari, our holiday was active and relaxing!!!

Peaceful Retreat
We went from a cavernous, modern apartment in Helsinki to this cottage in the woods with lots of small rooms, overlooking the lake. It was the perfect change of pace. The view and sunsets were spectacular (lots of deck space around the house and down at the lake). The kitchen was well supplied for cooking and there was a grocery store nearby. The wood fire sauna, wild berries for picking, and the row boat were great. The air rifle and trampoline were also a big hit with the kids. While there, we enjoyed visiting the glacial potholes of Askola and the old town of Porvoo nearby.
We were a family of 5 (grandparents, our daughter and her 2 teens). One disappointment was that there was an algae bloom on the lake so we chose not to swim in it. However there was another spring-fed lake close by we drove to for swimming (10 minutes).
One thing to consider is that the only sleeping on the first floor is a bunk bed in the small piano room. The other beds are upstairs in two separate areas. Both sets of stairs (a wooden spiral staircase and a shallow-stepped staircase) might prove difficult for some.
Ari, the owner, always responded quickly to any questions I had. He met us at the local grocery store and we followed him to the cottage, where Anni welcomed us with coffee and ice cream with wild blueberries - a very warm reception.

And thank you visiting in Villa Ahvenkallio and welcome back again. In some summers there is algae in the lake some not. It is also mater of wind.
Sorry that I didnt tell that you can also sleep in the smaller fire place room in downstairs. There is double bed.

Amazing cottage in the woods
We had a really great time in Ari's cottage. Ari and Anni were great hosts and received us with nice sandwiches, ice cream and coffee! The location is really cool, nice to walk around, pick berries, swim... Ari has 2 nice kayaks to rent and he let us use his fishing material.
They also have a nice sauna and Jacuzzi.
Myrskila is really close by. It is a very small town and that doesn't have a lot of things but all the essentials one can get there. Poorvo is a nice town only 35 km away, lots of restaurants and so forth. Helsinki is only 75 min away also.
For us it was just perfect. Only one detail. For a big family one of the bathrooms is not very well placed and if your family is complicated about those things that is something to consider. We were 5 + a baby and had really no problem.
Highly recommended!

The beautiful house with the beautiful nature in the peaceful wilderness.
We had a good weekend; a lot of action: kayaks and fishing(we got two perch pikes), air rifle shooting, trampoline and badminton. We also visited the caves by a rowing boat.
We got apples and plums from the garden.
In the second evening we had a barbecue party on the open flame grill and we danced on the big illuminated terrace.
It was nice to wake up in the silence of the forest and have a breakfast on the terrace admiring the view to the lake.
We also visited a local village by rowing boat and we found smoked fish shop and 6 pizzas(from local cafe restaurant).
In the evening we were in the beautiful sauna, where we admired the sunset and of course we spend our time in the big jacuzzi.

The villa Ahvenkallio is situated on a top of a rocky mountain area; 80m from the lake Kirkkojärvi.
The size of the building site is 15000m2 (100m x150m).
There is a lot of adventure forest and wilderness with big stones and caves around the villa.
The village Myrskylä is on the other side of the lake. There you can find a food shop-SALE, a smoked fish and caviar shop, two cafe/pizza/lunch restaurants; billiard night bar; gas station; a little market place, a library and pharmacy, a doctor, a bank etc...
There is also the statue of Lasse Viren, 4 times olympic winner from Myrskylä. Maybe you meet him in the local cafe or market place?
And when you arrive, you will meet our Jekku, the most wellknown person(dog) in Myrskylä.
