Glenduron is in St Mary's Holm behind the Bay of Legrow. Our property is a charming two bedroom traditional Orkney Cottage. Looking out over Scapa Flow to the famous Italian Chapel and the Churchill Barriers. It has a large garden with ample parking. You can seat entranced by the scenery in the comfort of the lounge and bedroom. There is a big garden where you can relax or play and a clothes line to dry your clothes. In the main bedroom there is ample space to relax and let all your cares drift away with the coming and going of the tides. Throughout the house there is infra-red heating panels and in the lounge there is a choice between an electric fire or a dual fuel burner. I had the main bedroom which is roomy with 2 large windows, a window seat that looks out to the water, 2 wardrobes, a lovely dressing table and stool. The rear twin room was smaller and very cold, despite heating. The cottage bedrooms could have...More

Thank you Louise, Good review. I have noted the heating problem in bedrooms, extra heater in cupboard in hall if needed. Heating set at 18 degrees in bedrooms, good temperature for sleep. Thanks once again

About the neighbourhood
Glenduron is located in Holm, a short distance from the seashore where in the autumn and winter you will see from the lounge windows seals raising their pups. There are many walks around Holm with spectacular scenery and skies.
Close by is the famous Churchill barriers and Italian Chapel. Orkney wine company is a must if you are keen on wine.
The Commodore restaurant is open on Friday and Saturday during the summer months.
There is small shop and post office where you can purchase essentials.
Getting around
A car is useful in Orkney as it allows you access to many more beautiful sites that cannot accessed by bus, but if you do not have or wish to have a car many of the well known attractions of Orkney can be reached by bus. In the summer months there is a open toplan bus that visits many of the top attractions.
The X1 bus runs through Holm, this bus starts at St Margaret's Hope Pentland Ferry terminal and terminates at Stromness Ferry terminal
