The cottage has an enclosed garden area and grounds of 3 acres, with fields and woodland, which is perfect for children and dogs to explore. Excellent walks can be had straight from the cottage door. Pets are welcome and there is also a games room with table football, the driveway has parking for 4 cars. The cottage provides an excellent base to explore the natural beauty and history of the west coast of Scotland. The seaside town of Helensburgh is only a short 10-minute drive away with restaurants, shops and supermarkets, as well as a small cinema. The Waverly vintage paddle steamer provides day trips from the pier and the Hill House in Helensburgh was designed by famous architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and is well worth a visit. Walk a stretch of the famous West Highland Way, or cycle through the dramatic scenery of nearby Glen Fruin, the site of a clan battle in 1603, or explore some of Scotland’s most picturesque areas; excellent outdoor activities to be enjoyed, including walking, cycling, fishing, pony trekking and water sports nearby, there are numerous hill and mountain walks, with about 20 hills above 3000ft, within an hour’s drive. The cottage has good access to places of interest; with direct train or car to Glasgow, 40 minutes, Edinburgh, Oban, 90 minutes. Car to Stirling, 40 minutes and Glencoe, 90 minutes. There is also easy access to many golf courses including the Loch Lomond championship course and Cameron House golf and spa. Lomond Shores, offering designer shopping, loch cruises and an aquarium, are about 15 minutes away. Various nearby distilleries, including the famous Glengoyne Distillery, offer tours. We had a wonderful family holiday in a very welcoming house. Whilst the weather wasn’t perfect, we enjoyed the changing views from large picture windows in the lounge. The house was very well equipped, clean and beds all comfortable. Surrounded by pretty gardens the house...More
