About the neighbourhood
Festival Seasons - Carnival, Samana Santa, July and August We are in the heart of the activity. If you like to be where the action is, then this is a great place. If you want it quieter, stay mid-week during the summer. On the weekends, during festival there is usually a stage set up close by with Mexican bands playing local music Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Come on out and dance. Non-Festivals Progreso is a quiet Mexican town on the Gulf of Mexico. It is a cruise ship port, with cruise ships stopping 2 days a week. The Yucatan is one of the safest states in Mexico and Progreso is a very safe town. I feel safe walking on the Malecon at any time of day or night. In Progreso, you come to relax, walk on the beach in the mornings, lay on the beach in the afterno...
How to get there
Take the highway from Merida to Progreso. Turn right on Calle 21 (last street before the ocean). We are between Calle 64 and 66, in front of the OXXO. Our casa is blue and white with a black bamboo fence.
