About the neighbourhood
Rathdrum, situated high on the western side of the beautiful Avonmore Valley, offers the tourist majestic views of the Avonmore River, which flows through the Vale of Clara. The town has been the location of films like Michael Collins, A Love Divided and Durango. Avondale House, set on 500 acres of Avondale Forest, was the birthplace of Charles Stewart Parnell, one of the greatest political leaders of modern Irish history. A few kilometres west of the town is Greenane and the Greenane Farm Museum and Maze. There are numerous pubs, shops and restaurants in Rathdrum.
