About the neighbourhood
Winchelsea Beach is a seaside village, located 1.5 miles south east of Winchelsea and about 10 miles from Hastings. The beach faces Rye Bay, the estuary of the River Rother and is a frequented by many species of birds. The beach is mainly shingle but at low tide sand is revealed. The town of Winchelsea, is a short walk from the property and is worth a visit, especially if you are lucky enough to visit when they offer the ’Cellar tours’ very interesting and historical.Rye is is about 3 miles away and, like Winchelsea, enjoys a colourful medieval past, with plenty to visit and pretty shops and tea rooms to enjoy. The beaches of Winchelsea Beach, Pett Level and Camber Sands, are all within easy reach.
Getting around
I would advise taking a car when you stay at Stoats Old River Way If driving from Europe, the village of Winchelsea Beach is about 40 minutes from the ferries at Dover or the Euro Tunnel at Folkestone Gatwick airport - approximately 60 miles from the property Taxis available from Rye or Hastings Railway stations. If keen walkers there are ample footpaths on your doorstep for you to explore the surrounding area.
