Dingwall, Ross and Cromarty, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
Light and spacious converted barn dating from 1730........ but with the benefit of free wi-fi! Set in a peaceful semi rural location 2 miles from local amenities. This is the perfect spot to explore the whole of the Northern Highlands: 20 minutes NW of Inverness, and halfway between Dingwall and Strathpeffer. A walker's and golfer's paradise, as well as being a great central base for day or half day trips in the car. Many guests decide to make a full day trip to Orkney from here, as well as taking the opportunity to travel on the Dingwall - Kyle of Lochalsh railway line (one of the world's most beautiful train journeys.) There is plenty to fill a one or two week stay, whether you decide to simply stay in the local area, or venture further afield and enjoy the feeling of coming 'home' at the end of each day.

This year we stayed in Lodge Barn (we stayed in Honeysuckle Cottage in the same grounds last year). We didn't think Honetsuckle Cottage could be beaten for comfort and the amazing facilities - we were wrong! Lodge Barn is delightful. It is a 'tardis' as it looks quite small from outside. The main living area is completely open plan which...

Management response:

Thanks for your kind review. It was good to see you again and to catch up with you both. So pleased that you liked being in Lodge Barn.

For the 4th year running we travelled up to the beautiful highlands. This year we stayed in Honeysuckle cottage, which is warm and inviting and surprisingly spacious. It is ideally situated to travel throughout the northern highlands, and that is exactly what we did. From Inverewe Gardens, Plocton, culloden, inverness, Loch Ness, the Black Isle etc. there are 3 large...

Management response:

Thank you for your wholesome praise.... but sorry it has taken me a year to say so!! Looking forward to catching up with you in a couple of weeks when you return for another dose of Highland air. :)

We were looking for peace and tranquillity and that was exactly what we got. In Fodderty Lodge you are surrounded by nature but in the same time you're only about half an hour away from Inverness. The excellent location also makes it possible to go pretty much everywhere in the Highlands in just about 3 hours by car. The Lodge...

Management response:

Thank you for your kind words. Like you, we appreciate how easy it is to reach everywhere in the Highlands from Fodderty. It is possible to gauge the weather and decide where to go: all directions can be explored from here easily. A great advantage!
