'Rose Cottage' is a pretty, traditional Irish cottage which dates back to 1860. It is located on a street of stone cottages on the edge of the historic village of Greyabbey with its Cistercian abbey dating back to 1160. The abbey is set in beautiful parkland and is just across the way from the cottage, the perfect spot for walks and picnics. Greyabbey has a number of historic buildings and a great selection of antique and vintage shops, restaurants and coffee shops. The village is on the side of Strangford Lough which has a multitude of attractions. At low tide you can walk out to islands in the Lough. Rose Cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway or for a family. As the bathroom is ensuite it may not suit parties of adults. The sofa bed is suitable for one adult or two children. We can also provide a cot and high chair for babies or toddlers. The cottage has been recently renovated and furnished with a mixture of vintage and contemporary pieces yet maintains its rustic charm. There are many original features yet with all modern home comforts. It is deceptively spacious with a large living room, master bedroom with ensuite, large kitchen and dining area, and a spacious sunny courtyard perfect for alfresco dining. There is a sunny seating area at the front which is perfect for relaxing and watching the world go by! It is possible to park safely on the street or in the church car park just across the way. The cottage has been featured in a number of home interior magazines including '25 Beautiful Homes', 'Ireland Homes and Interiors' and 'House Beautiful.' The cottage is on the edge of the village and is within easy walking distance of the abbey, local park, vintage and antique shops and restaurants, Orange Tree House (wedding venue). We are just a short drive to the beautiful beach and harbour of Ballywalter. Major supermarkets and amenities at Newtownards are just 10 minutes drive away. All major attractions of Strangford Lough are on your doorstep including the pretty towns of Portaferry and Strangford, the historic town of Downpatrick and stunning National Trust properties at Mount Stewart and Castleward. All the major attractions of Northern Ireland are accessible including Belfast just 30 minutes away, the Mourne Mountains 50 minutes drive and the North Coast with the Giants Causeway 1.5 hours drive. It is a superb location for a family holiday as you have a wealth of options to chose from - a fabulous long sandy beach, play parks, aquarium, petting farms, play cafes, adventure playgrounds, canoeing, windsurfing and adventure golf to name but a few! Please note that as the cottage is located on a street and we have single glazed sash windows, you can expect some noise from traffic. More
