Holiday Rental House
A spacious, light and airy self catering cottage in the converted Bake House. It is set in the rear garden of the main house. We are in a central village location with access to some great local pubs and restaurants; excellent if you don't have a car. We are ideal for visiting friends and relatives, and for lovers of historic buildings and walkers along the Essex Way. There are transport links to London and Colchester, so if you wish you can visit London for the day without having to stay there! Or, go north and explore our medieval towns and gentle countryside. We can accommodate up to four people and because many of our guests have friends or relatives locally we provide seating and dining in the kitchen for 6. We live just in front of the cottage, which makes the property very appealing for people traveling by themselves as we are onsite should you need us. Our welcome breakfast is supplied by our local delicatessen and butcher, Buntings, and our chickens...….. when in the mood! More

A most comfortable and relaxing place to stay with all the comforts of home. The owners couldn't have been more charming and helpful. As for the chickens . . . . brought back some happy memories, thank you!

Thank you so much for your kind review. Sometimes I think my feathered ladies are my best selling point. I think they end up in many a photo! Thank you for coming to stay with us, it was a pleasure to have you.

Coggeshall is a lovely old-world village with modern pretensions, and Firmins Bakehouse fits in superbly. Alex was a wonderfully supportive hostess and even watered our plants that we had bought from the nearby Beth Chatto gardens. We made great friends with Ziggy the dog and...More

About the neighbourhood
Coggeshall is a pretty, large village in Essex. We are within easy walking distance of our shops, restaurants and two National Trust properties. Grange Barn and Paycockes House. To the north of Coggeshall lies Marks Hall, an arboretum with beautiful gardens and walks. Beyond is northern Essex and Suffolk littered with medieval towns and villages within pretty countryside. Heading south, by train and you can access central London, Westfield shopping centre and the 2012 Olympic Park. So at Firmin's Bakehouse you can have the best of all worlds -  an attractive place to stay with a plethora of peaceful villages to explore one day and a busy day in the 'Big Smoke' the next.
Getting around
Walk within and around the village. The Essex Way passes through Coggeshall. Kelvedon station takes you south to Liverpool Street Station (London) via Colchester and Stratford (the 2012 Olympic Park and shopping centre), or North to Ipswich. Coggeshall has its own own community bus which runs to and from the train station in the morning and evening. Buses can take you into Colchester. Plus some very friendly taxi drivers if you want to go further afield but don't have a car.
