Holiday Rental House -
1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 4
Coggeshall, Essex, England
A spacious cottage in a converted bake house in the rear garden of the main house which houses the former bakery. Firmin's Bakehouse is in a central village location with access to some great local pubs and restaurants; excellent if you don't have a car. We are ideal for visiting friends and relatives, and for lovers of historic buildings and walkers along the Essex Way. There are transport links to London and Colchester, so if you wish you can visit London for the day without having to stay there! Or, go north and explore our medieval towns and gentle countryside.

It is a very spacious, light and airy one bedroom property. The superking double can be set up as full size twins. We have created a more secluded area of the garden for our guests to enjoy in the summer months.

We live just in front of the cottage, which makes the pr...

Coggeshall is a lovely old-world village with modern pretensions, and Firmins Bakehouse fits in superbly. Alex was a wonderfully supportive hostess and even watered our plants that we had bought from the nearby Beth Chatto gardens. We made great friends with Ziggy the dog and...More

About the neighbourhood
Coggeshall is a pretty, medieval but large village in Essex. We are within easy walking distance of our shops, restaurants and two National Trust properties. Grange Barn and Paycockes House.

To the north of Coggeshall lies Marks Hall, an arboretum with beautiful gardens and walks. Beyond is northern Essex and Suffolk littered with medieval towns and villages within pretty countryside.

Heading south, by train and you can access central London, Westfield shopping centre and the 2012 Olympic Park.

So at Firmin's Bakehouse you can have the best of all worlds -  an attractive place to stay with a plethora of peaceful villages to explore one day and a busy day in the Big Smoke the next.
Getting around
Walk within and around the village. The Essex Way passes through Coggeshall. From Kelvedon station you can go south to Liverpool Street Station via Colchester and Stratford (London), or North to Ipswich. We even have our very own Coggeshall community bus which runs to and from the train station in the morning and evening. Buses can take you into Colchester. Plus some very friendly taxi drivers if you want to go further afield but don't have a car.
