Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Had a great time at Heaven on Earth end of September. Got together for the week with 3 friends (brothers) that I grew up with back in NY. We've gone tent camping almost every year for the past 50 years. We're all getting older and decided to "move on up" to a rustic cabin. The cabin was very clean and had many great amenities. There were 4 of us and the sleeping accommodations worked out well. Used the pool table and horseshoes and even played some bocci ball with a set we brought along. It was really nice having the gas grill for cooking too. The fire pit was great for hanging out as it did start to get a bit cooler later in the evening. The cabin was in a good location as well, as downtown Luray is not far away, and we also got to go fishing at a nearby pond. All in all it was a great trip and everyone had a good time. Highly recommend Heaven on Earth.

Wanted a quiet weekend away with my little family. Planned to do a lot of hiking and fishing. Unfortunately, it rained the entire weekend. This cabin was perfect for our 4 adults and 2 kids. Very quiet and peaceful. Luckily there was a hit tub, which gave us the opportunity to breathe in the great outdoors without being sad about the rain.

The Heaven on Earth cabin was an all-around great experience for our family. This place is surrounded by places to go and explore close by. The location isn’t a touristy trap, it’s still quaint with a small town feel. The cabin itself was large, with three levels to house us all. The yard has a lot of space to play games, or relax and enjoy the wildlife. There were plenty of basic amenities, and room to bring your own if you are particular. This is a great place to disconnect from a busy life and connect with family. If you are looking at staying in the Luray area, this is a great option.

Our family of 5 had a wonderful pre-Christmas stay at Heaven on Earth. The house was the perfect size for my husband and I, our two 20 something sons and our 13 year old. It was a great way to disconnect and spend some much needed family time together. We enjoyed the game room, huge hot tub, walking down to the river, backyard fire pit, and the stove/fire place at night curled up watching Polar Express on the TV. The whole house was beautifully decorated for Christmas which was a pleasant surprise. The kitchen had just about everything we needed and we used the gas grill two nights. The beds and linens were very comfy and the place was super clean. We have stayed at several river cabins in the Luray area and this one is up at the top of our list. I rely greatly on reviews when booking vacations so there are a few things (not necessarily negatives) I’d like to point out in case they are relevant for future renters. 1) As with all cabins in this area, the WiFi is spotty and weak so don’t rely on it. This is no fault of the cabin owners and par for the course when staying in this beautiful area. 2) Because the house has wood-burning stoves that are also fireplaces, the house has a rather strong burnt wood smell. You will notice it immediately upon walking in. This was not an issue for our family (added to the ambiance) and you quickly become used to it, but be aware if you are sensitive to this smell. 3) Being there in the winter months when it is cold, be very careful of ice on the back deck stairs that lead to the backyard. As with every heavily used hot tub I have seen, there is water leakage. When we first arrived (had not used the hot tub yet) my 22 year old went outside to check out the backyard fire pit and he slipped and fell on the ice covered stairs. Thankfully he was able to grab onto the railings in time to avoid a serious fall. In looking closely, we could see water underneath the hot tub dripping down onto the stairs and freezing clear so hard to notice until you step on it. There were also icicles hanging underneath the deck. The hot tub is heavenly by the way. It was very cold at night but the hot tub was a perfect 102 degrees and star gazing was fantastic! 4) This isn’t an isolated river cabin. You have very close neighbors. Not an issue for us, and we didn’t see too many people around, but again this might be important to some. 5) This cabin is not right on the river. You do have to walk through the backyard, down a little path, cross over a dirt road and then walk a bit further. It’s not a big area by the river and you have to bring your own chairs, etc. to sit out there. We could see a little bit of the river from the back deck through the trees. We didn’t mind the short walk but this could be important for some to know. We’ve stayed in a place right on the river and one with an even farther walk so just depends on what is important to you. 6) There are 2 stair cases in the house that are very steep. One that leads downstairs to one of the bedrooms, game room and bathroom and another that goes upstairs to the loft area and another bedroom. There isn’t a bathroom on the upper level. Caution for people of all ages needs to be taken on these stairs. We had no issues, but I can see this could be an area of concern for little ones or people with bad knees/balance issues. Again, we had a wonderful stay and would love to come back in the summer months to enjoy the river activities. Downtown Luray was just a short 15 drive and we went into town each day we were there. The location to take your garbage was just a 2 minute drive down the road. It was perfect! Thank you!

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at heaven on Earth for our 3 year wedding Anniversary!!!! We had such a great time. the pool table was a hit for us at night before we went to bed. It was very quiet. we enjoyed taking the canoe out on the water (the only problem was you have to take the canoe to the water and its not very easy since its alittle heavy) we enjoyed the hottub. The house was stocked with EVERYTHING you could think of!!! This is our 3rd year renting from shenandoah cabin rentals and have not had a problem with any of the 3 cabins we have stayed in. We already have the one we wanna stay at next year picked out.. Everything was PERFECT and cant wait to come back.

Great location. Close to Luray Caverns, the Blue Ridge Parkway, horseback riding and more. There's also a grocery store and a WalMart close by, in case you forget something. Very clean cabin just a short walk to the Shenandoah River. Beautiful surroundings. The hot tub was very relaxing. Also available at the cabin were horseshoes, a firepit and kayaks. The river was a little rough for the kayaks while we were there, though. Would definitely go back!

My friends and I rented “Heaven on Earth” for a quick weekend get-together. The house was very nice with all things that we needed provided for. Heaven on Earth is located a short walk from the river and has a nice sizable lot around several other rentals. While it was a little cold for our trip there were several canoes and kayaks that would be great for the river. You can even drive a short while toward Luray to a river access and float back to the property. All in all this was a great trip and a location that we would consider again.

Best vacation ever!!! We spent the mornings outside watching the river flow and enjoying nature. Went to the Skyline Caverns and the National parks. What I loved most was when we got back and spent the evenings in front of the fireplace. I was so romantic and personal. The cottage is nothing like a hotel. It has so many personal touches it almost feels like home. I can't leave out the poole table and hot tub. NO kids it was wonderful. Though we would love to bring the grand-kids, Next time.

It is the best place to enjoy the fall of the Shenandoah. My family enjoyed autumn foliage around. The children ran the grass, baked the smore on the fire fit, and enjoyed playing in the water at the Jacuzzi. Adults enjoyed autumn foliage, grilling barbecue, resting on the couch, and walking around trail. It is the best facility that is pleasant and comfortable.

We had a very relaxing and pleasant stay at Heaven on Earth this fall. The house was very clean with a lot of supplies. The hot tub was very well maintained and the yard was clean and mowed. The fire pit was all ready for us to use as well with a supply of firewood. There is also a river behind the cabin and kayaks and other supplies comes along with the cabin if you need them. We did not have any need to call the manager for whatever reason and it was an easy drive into town for dinner etc. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a clean relaxing lazy cabin stay.
