Points of interest in Fort Augustus only a few mins drive away are the former Benedictine Abbey, canal locks for yachts/boats entering and leaving Loch Ness and the cruise boats touring the southern end of Loch Ness equipped with sonar. You can also find some good pub food and a cafe for snacks together with a Brasserie in the Lovat Hotel and a great little restaurant in the Glenmoriston Arms Hotel. Points of interest in Drumnadrochit which is 20 mins drive away are Urquhart Castle, the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre and some good pubs serving great food esp the Benleva Hotel - great value for money. Further up near Inverness, a 35 min drive, you can visit Culloden where the last battle took place between the English and Scots. During the winter months if it snows you can be skiing or snowboarding on the Nevis Range which is only a 35 min drive away. Or, you can be in the Isle of Skye in approx 1 hour after stopping to take pictures at Eileen Donan Castle.More
