This architect designed house is just 5 minutes walk from the centre of the village of Fort Augustus, with a short further walk to the shores of Loch Ness. Oiseval is at the end of a private road that leads directly onto the Great Glen Way, about 5 minutes from the village centre of Fort Augustus. It will appeal to people who like their creature comforts, but also to be able to walk and cycle in the hills, explore the world class environment of the Highlands and the Great Glen, and enjoy the welcome and excellent local facilities in Fort Augustus. The house itself is just three years old, and has been designed for maximum comfort and liveability, but with striking architectural features such as the chapel style ceiling in the main living area. This, like the rest of the living area downstairs is open plan, which creates a seamless feel throughout the house as well as maximising effective heat circulation; no bad thing in an area which has to cope with sub zero winter temperatures! The house is an excellent starting point for numerous walks - through the forest, along the side of the River Oich towards Auchterawe as well as sections of the Great Glen Way, where in minutes, you'll feel very close to nature (helped by the abundant wildlife) and that you've come a long way from civilisation. But you haven't; the house is also near enough to the village for you to be able to get an extra pint of milk if you've run out, or a good meal at one of a number of local eateries. in terms of the living area there is a snug but open plan living room with a chapel style ceiling, wood burning stove and picture windows with views over the Great Glen. Home cinema system with surround sound and Freeview, and cables for computer, Wii or Xbox connection. CD/DVD player. The fully and well equipped eat in kitchen includes additional seating space in a small extension with French doors leading to front garden. There are three comfortable bedrooms; one kingsize bed, one double bed and two singles. There is an ensuite shower room downstairs with a family bathroom with a separate shower upstairs, and an additional downstairs toilet There is plenty of outside space in an enclosed garden, including space to eat out and sunbathe when the weather allows! There is a carefully placed bird table on the front lawn, which gives hours of pleasure if you put food on the table and watch the birds come for their lunch. Outdoor seating and a small barbecue are included. A car is strongly advised. As well as masses of local walking and cycling, with a car, you can easily get to a wide range of golf courses within easy driving distance; two major ski resorts, and bag well over half the Highland Munros. And no visit is complete without a boat trip on Loch Ness, even if you don't believe in the monster!More

This gem of a property is ideally situated to visit such a variety of locations in all directions but also to stay put and relax when you feel the need. The house is very well equiped ....the only thing we couldn't find was an egg...More

About the neighbourhood
Fort augustus is literally in the very heart of the Highlands, and you can get pretty well anywhere and back in a day (with the possible exception of John O'Groats!). There is plenty of outdoor activity - walking, cycling, climbing, even white water rafting - and lots of great places to visit, including some very welcoming highland distilleries, the nearest some 25 miles away. We keep lots of brochures, maps and guide books in the house.
How to get there
Fort Augustus is midway between Inverness (airport and train station, both with easy car hire) and Fort William (train station, and car hire). there is a regular bus service which runs hourly during the week, less frequently on Sundays, with a bus stop about a 5 minute walk from the house.
