Relax in the 20 acres of private grounds overlooking the Loch or play tennis, croquet or bowls. There is just a 2 minute walk into Fort Augustus where you can watch the boats pass by through the centre of the village (through 5 locks) along the Caledonian Canal down into Loch Ness. There is a beautiful indoor swimming pool and for more leisure activities, there is a small fitness room which includes a multi-gym, cross-trainer and rowing machine. The relaxing living area of the apartment is open plan and retains many of its original features such as the arched windows and stone fireplace. It overlooks the Abbey cloisters and the giant outdoor chess set. There is also free wi-fi in the apartment itself. There are shops in the village for all the essentials as well as great pubs and restaurants for eating out. The area is wonderful for walking, taking cruises on the Loch and visiting the stunning castles of the Scottish Highlands. A boat trip can be taken to Urquhart Castle from the landing stage next door to the Abbey. Only 30 minutes away is the Nevis Range near Fort William. Walk up Ben Nevis (highest mountain in the British Isles) or view the amazing mountains from the gondolas (chair lifts). Mountain biking and Snowsports also take place here. About the neighbourhood
The Landing Stage of the leisurely Royal Scot boat cruise is just a 2 mins walk away from the Abbey. For exciting Nessie Hunting trips, take the very fast RIB boat with its underwater cameras. There are several pubs and restaurants in the village and also The Boathouse Restaurant in the grounds of the Abbey (on the Loch side itself and a short walk away). Ceilidh dancing also takes place in the summer months - with live music in the village hall.
How to get there
1 hour drive from Inverness Airport. On arrival, there is plenty of free parking in the Abbey grounds.
