Condo/Apartment
No.2 The Old Convent is a one bedroom ground floor apartment which has just been renovated to a very high standard. The work has been sympathetically carried out retaining some of the old character such as the natural stone walls but adding some modern features like central heating and double glazing! This apartment is a mixture of old and new and put together, we think, in an interesting way! The Old Convent was originally built as a church in 1842, then converted into a convent 'St Scholastica's Priory' in 1891, the nun's took residence in 1892 until 1922 when the remaining nun's were moved to Holme Eden Abbey. Some of the nun's are buried in the graveyard at Fort Augustus Abbey, half a mile from the convent on the shores of Loch Ness. We are close to main road with the convent woods...No.2 The Old Convent is a one bedroom ground floor apartment which has just been renovated to a very high standard. We are close to main road with the convent woods to rear giving you privacy, and a fantastic view of golf course and Ben Tee to front. The property is ready for guests arrival from 4pm unless otherwise arranged, we ask that guests leave by 10am on day of departure as we need time to clean for next guests. If No.2 is already booked for your preferred dates please enquire about No.1, No.3 or No.4.More

We, Felicity & Chris are local and live in one end of the convent and are able to suggest many wonderful day trips combining superb scenic drives and walks, with castles, brochs and ruins that you probably won't find in any guide book. We will give you the keys and show you around the apartment on arrival and are on hand if you have any questions at all

Superb job of remodeling an old convent and making it "modern" while keeping it's character. Folks who did the work and run the place are exceptionally nice and helpful. And reasonably priced. A+

About the neighbourhood
Fort Augustus is central to the highlands and is a great location for hill walkers with plenty of Munro's and Corbett's to choose from. Fort William has Ben Nevis and the fantastic mountain bike tracks/skiing in winter of Aonach Mor , the steam train used in a Harry Potter film to Mallaig is well worth taking, the road to the Isle of Skye passing Eilean Donan castle is just breathtaking! You can take a guided wildlife boat trip on Loch Sheil from Glenfinnan where you can spot otters, eagles, seals and many more wild creatures! If you take the boat trip on Loch Ness...you never know, Nessie might pop her head up or if you go to Loch Morar you might get a glimse of the monster Morag. Then of course the dramatic Glencoe, well worth a visit.
Getting around
Fort Augustus is a very picturesque village on the southern shore of Loch Ness, which is virtually the geographical center of the Highlands. A perfect base for exploring the spectacular scenery and amenities that the area has to offer. Fort Augustus is the perfect place to relax with a short walk to the center of the village where you can find grocery shops, butcher, post office, ATM, petrol station and several pubs and restaurants. You can take a boat trip up Loch Ness or simply chill on the canal side watching the boats negotiate the locks!
