Named after the most famous Loch in Scotland, the Loch Ness room sleeps 4 people (1 double or twin beds and bunk beds) and offers and en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. This room also boasts an outside terrace with amazing views over the Fort Augustus and the River Oich. Here in the Lock Chambers at the Caledonian Canal Centre it’s a priority of ours that our guests have a great night’s sleep. Beds are supplied by Dovetail who have been manufacturing beds in Scotland for over 150 years. As a Supported Business, Dovetail are a registered charity that is proud of its role in providing employment and training opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged members of society. The venue has seven rooms all with their own unique personality – from the Loch Oich which sleeps three to Nessie and Neptune which can join together to sleep six. The rooms are all beautifully designed and decorated with a great blend of modern style and traditional fabrics to make the modern traveller feel at home. Please be aware that access to all rooms is via a steep flight of stairs and there is a tap outside the exterior door for you to use after a long day’s hike!More

Self Check in. However, Staff at the Caledonian Canal Centre will be able to assist should you have any enquiries during opening hours. The entrance is at the front of the building just past the picnic tables, to gain entry you should input the code into the keypad located beside the Lock Chambers sign. At the top of the stairs you will see directions to your room where you will find a Secure Master key safe. To obtain the key use the dials to enter the code and pull the black lever down to open. The codes will be issued when your balance is paid.

We stayed at the canal centre for a short break, 2 adults and a 7 year old boy. The room was spotless and really well decorated. The roof terrace was a fantastic space to unwind at the end of a day sightseeing and our son...More

About the neighbourhood
Fort Augustus, at the southern end of Loch Ness, has plenty to see and do. Walking, cycling fishing, mountain-biking, sightseeing and lots more. The Caledonian Canal displays an impressive system of locks bringing canal boats into the village before they descend into Loch Ness. Heading north from the village will take you to Inverness, or head west to the Isle of Skye – an easy day trip. Travel south to the activities of Fort William and the UK’s largest mountain – Ben Nevis

You can find the local Tourist Information Centre downstairs in the Caledonian Canal Centre Local Transport There are two bus and coach operators in Fort Agustus, Scottish Citylink, and Highland County. The closest railway stations are Tulloch Railway Station which is 18 miles from Fort Augustus, Roy Bridge Railway Station which is also 18 miles from Fort Augustus and Spean Bridge Railway Station which is 20 miles from Fort Augustus. There is a bus stop in the village where you can catch one of the two regular bus services to and from Fort William and Inverness, the 513 and 919
