Perfect quiet family getaway
The house was very clean, comfortable, well equipped with all the necessary things for a self-catering family holiday. A lovely short stroll to the quaint Town and close to some amazing scenic walks or even hikes for the more adventurous. So much to do within a 25minute radius - from meals, scenery, activities for families and individuals and adrenaline junkies included... We didn't have enough time to explore it all and will definitely base ourselves here again for another family breakaway. Andrea is a super host, kind, considerate and an excellent Baker with very green fingers and a love for nature. The two dogs, Dusty and Boomer are very friendly and made for some extra smiles during our stay. Danke schön Andrea!!!

Excellent week
Myself and 3 mates from the UK spent 7 nights in Cottage 2. The host, Andrea, welcomed us on arrival and showed us around the cottage. The cottage was very nice and and clean and comfortable. We had no need to buy anything else, except for food. The charge for elecric and heating oil was les than I expected. There are 2 very friendly young dogs that visited us every day, not a problem. Our host was always on call if we needed anything. I think that our host would get more anglers to stay if she had a small shed with an old fridge to keep the bait in. Plenty of places to fish within 10-15 mins drive. Overall, we all thoughly enjoyed our stay there, hope to return another day.

Great holiday in an amazing location
Our family has recently returned from a wonderful end-of-summer break at Mount Brandon Cottages. From the moment we drove through the gateway, I knew we’d made the right choice. Driving through the entrance is an experience in itself - magnificent trees line the avenue to the accommodation and there are many glorious flower filled pockets on the lawn. It was, without exception, the most refreshing experience I’ve ever had after a three hour plus car journey. Andrea’s warm greeting made us feel at home immediately and her hospitality extended to lovely chats when we met during evening strolls in the garden, to the arrival, through the back door window (very cool) one morning, of some home grown veg for us to enjoy. One of the highlights for the children was the pottery class with Carmen - all different age groups, and all very content with the hour spent in her gorgeous studio. I’m pretty sure I would’ve been happy to sleep in the garden or the studio, such were their tranquil vibes but the cottage itself was perfect: spacious, comfortable, with one of the best beds I’ve ever slept on, and importantly, with our family group, very reasonable. Graiguenamanagh has many great wonders and I would definitely add Mount Brandon cottages to them.

Mount Brandon Cottages
Overlooking the village of Graignamanagh in Co Kilkenny these cottages are ideal for a break from day to day pressures. Located in well manicured gardens the house we stayed in was pristine clean and contained everything we required. Graignamanagh is situated by the river and it was great to spend time watching the barges and boats parked there. The village is an excellent base if you wish to tour the pretty villages and towns of Carlow and Kilkenny. Great river walks in Graignamanagh make this a really attractive location. We received a big welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our time in this lovely part of the world.

Delighted with your kind review. It is so lovely to read what guests appreciate about this place. I guess the old adage: "location, location, location" is not too bold a claim to make. We seem to be ticking this box anyways. Stay well and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. x Andrea

Beautiful refuge with Wonderful host
Our family of 3 had a extended stay over several weeks at Brandon Cottages. Of all the self catering accommodation we have stayed in over the years this is easily our favourite. The Host, Andrea, could not have been more welcoming, responsive and helpful during the entirety of our stay. Both her and Ken went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed and that we were comfortable at all times. For example, on our first evening there Andrea brought us some freshly baked homemade brown bread, which was a lovely touch. Everything has a personal touch. The House itself was very clean, warm and spacious. Bedrooms are big and beds are comfortable and well serviced with fresh bed linen. We had more than enough space for a family of 3 but if you're a bigger family there's loads of space and privacy. The Cottages and surrounding property are a joy to walk around and take in the peace and tranquility that they provide. The grounds are beautifully maintained and its very safe for children to play or adults to wander. It has some special aspects to it also, with wildlife on your doorstep. (the pair of real life nesting owls are not something we've seen in self catering before!) The Location has great benefits if you are looking for accommodation slightly away from the town of Graiguenamanagh, but still within shouting distance. It's a calm, peaceful and serene place. The only disadvantage is that the road to Graig is a little dangerous to walk on and you probably need a car if you stay here. We would highly recommend this accommodation.

Comfortable modern cottage in great location
This was our second visit to Mount Brandon Cottages. We stayed for a weekend and previously for a week. The cottages are modern and well-equipped and suited our family of four (all adults). Bedrooms are comfortable and there is a well-equipped kitchen where we made our own breakfast and snacks. We enjoyed strolling in the cottage grounds and some of us joined in the pottery classes. Mount Brandon Cottages are a short walk (or even shorter drive) from the village of Graiguenamanagh on the river Barrow. This is a great location for kayaking and boat trips on the river with several cafes and pubs. There is a lovely river walk from Graiguenamanagh to the ancient village of St Mullins

About the neighbourhood
Graiguenamanagh is a medieval river town which dates back to the 13th century when Duiske Abbey, the largest Cistercian Monastery in Ireland, was established at the junction of the rivers Barrow and Duiske (Dubh Uisce Black Water). The monks are long since gone, but the Abbey remains. It is a vibrant church for the local community blessed with fantastic acoustics that have rung to the sounds of many famous voices, such as the Vienna Boys Choir and Ireland’s top traditional group, The Chieftains. Traditionally the Duiske Concerts take place in November of each year. Graiguenamanagh also hosts the TOWN OF BOOKS FESTIVAL in September of each year, where booksellers come from all corners of Ireland and abroad to value books and find new homes for them. At the river there is a magical mix of life and activity. Fishermen cast their flies for trout and salmon, and coarse fisherman pit their wits against myriads of Bream, Roach, Dace, Perch and some big big Pike.
