Welcome to The Cannery! This historic waterfront property offers incredible views and wildlife, an 8-person spa, an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, private beaches at low tide, two outdoor showers, a firepit, a kayak/canoe launch, a kayak shack, pond, creek, gazebo with benches (perfect for picnics), creekside Tea House & multiple entertainment areas. The mild microclimate of Alsea Bay results in warmer temperatures that are generally 10 degrees warmer than oceanfront, and our protected location minimizes the high winds that buffet much of the coast. Guests are welcome to bring their own non-motorized watercraft. For guests with boats, the Waldport boat launch ramp is right across the bay. There are also Hydrobikes, Kayaks and a 5-person Paddle Boat available to our guests. The w...Welcome to The Cannery! Guests are welcome to bring their own non-motorized watercraft. For guests with boats, the Waldport boat launch ramp is right across the bay. There are also Hydrobikes, Kayaks and a 5-person Paddle Boat available to our guests. The wildlife is incredible. On a daily basis, we see harbor seals, cranes, cormorants, herons, and river otters. Bald eagles (currently two adults and a juvenile) nest on the property. There are occasional orca sightings in the winter. An incredible variety of waterfowl. Bunnies, squirrels and chipmunks scamper through the back yard in the spring and summer. Please note that this listing is for the main home on the estate. The owners and their pets live here part of the year, and when on property will reside in an adjacent guest house when guests are in the main home. Things to Do: - Explore our private beaches and the ruins of the original Waldport settlement at low tide. - Crab, clam or fish right from the property. - Enjoy a gourmet meal in the outdoor kitchen or S'mores at the firepit - Gather round the outdoor wood-burning fireplace with sound system - Compete in Family Olympics with our watercraft - Explore the local waterways. - Enjoy a picnic lunch in the waterfront Gazebo - Have a pool or ping-pong tournament on our regulation size tables - Meditate, practice yoga or unwind with a beverage in our creekside She- Shed/Teahouse - Curl up with one of our many good books by the fireplace - Bring your gaming systems and have an epic game session on our 150' screen with hi-rez projector - Relax after a busy day with a soak in our 8-person spa The word Alsea is eponymous to the Alsea people, and means peace or paradise. We are pleased to welcome you to our Paradise on the Bay.More

About the neighbourhood
This is like being on a private island. Once you enter through the gate, you pass through a Pacific Northwest rainforest on your way to the estate. When you arrive, you will notice that the temperature is generally about 10 degrees warmer than right on the beach. Many days I am driving in fog on the 101, and pull down into a sunny paradise in our little microclimate. The home has lots of history; it was the original settlement of Waldport and had a cannery, a general store, a post office and the ferry landing. A lot of the original details have been preserved, and we have also converted a shop of the former owners (copper and jewelry artists) into a gorgeous contemporary home with tons of architectural detail.
Getting around
You will need a car in this location, although you can walk to the beach at low tide, or take a Hydro Bike across the bay to shop in town or enjoy a drink at the Salty Dog.
