Mohican Farmhouse

The Front of the Mohican Farmhouse.
1 of 41The Front of the Mohican Farmhouse.
Farmhouse -
5 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 14
Loudonville, Ohio
The Mohican Rental is a restored Historical Farmhouse with a private 1/2 acre fishing pond that borders the Mohican State Forest. There is a huge wrap-around covered porch that overlooks the pond, pastures, barns and forest. Goats, sheep, llamas, ducks, and chickens are all living on the farm and can be hand-fed (though have caretakers that stop by every two days, so you don't have to interact with them at all if you just want to relax and watch them graze in the pastures). It is conveniently located near the State Park, Malabar Farm, Amish Country, ski resorts, canoe liveries, horse riding stables, zip lining and hiking trails.

Interaction with guests
No interaction between the Farmhouse owners, caretakers and guests are necessary. A keypad locks/unlocks the front door and a code will be exchanged by email to allow entry. Someone will stop by every other day to care for the animals, but they will not disturb guests in the farmhouse, though guests are welcome to ask caretakers questions about the farm and animals and get a more personal interaction with the animals.

Peaceful weekend for both the kids and adults. Kids enjoyed fishing, petting and feeding the animals, rowing a small boat on the pond, campfires, so-mores and just exploring the farm property. The adults and older kids disconnected from the electronics and just enjoyed all the...More

Mohican Country is well known for its quiet rolling wooded hills. The park itself is the most visited in the State of Ohio (the farmhouse borders the southern edge, where the trails are least busy and there is not much traffic).
Getting around
Trails starting in the back yard of the farmhouse can be hiked all through Mohican State Park. A car will get you to the heart of the park where the covered bridge and waterfalls are, as well as canoe liveries, bike trails and horse back riding--all within 5 minutes.
How to get there
From the Mohican Memorial Shrine on State Route 97, you head west on S.R. 97 and turn south onto the second road to the left which is McCurdy Road. Once on McCurdy Road, you will go a little more than a mile to Twp Rd 3286 on the left (north). The farmhouse is on the left.
