Holiday Rental House
Raleigh Lodge was originally built as stables for the Manor house next door; the squire kept his coach and horses in this building and the lovely cobbled courtyard to the rear would have been the main access from the Manor. The building has been converted into living space, and now offers bright and spacious holiday accommodation all on one level in one of the finest settings on Exmoor. From the car parking area at the front of the property the entrance door leads into a hallway. The spacious sitting room has a wood-burner at the far and two comfortable sofas, perfect for unwinding with family or friends after a day exploring. The large Sliding doors allow you to enjoy the views from the comfort of the sofa, or you can also sit outside on the patio furniture. The kitchen/dining room has wonderfully high ceilings with exposed beams and is fitted with an Aga which ensures a warm and cosy atmosphere. Sliding doors from the kitchen lead out to the cobbled courtyard to the rear, complete with barbecue for cooking and dining al fresco. From the kitchen a rear hallway leads to the utility room which has plenty of room for hanging coats and storing boots, and an external door to the car parking area. The master bedroom has a king-sized double bed with a unique bed frame, the bedroom has fitted wardrobes and a roll top bath, plus a separate en-suite shower room. Of the other two bedrooms, one has a superking bed that can be made up as twin beds (if requested at time of booking) and this room has an en-suite wet room. The third bedroom also has a king-sized bed, with a shower room adjacent (off the hall). Appliances and equipment Kitchen appliances include fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, and electric oven with hob, there is also a traditional Aga. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, cafetiere, a variety of cookware, saucepans, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room. The living room has a television (with Freeview) and DVD player. Wifi is available throughout the property at no extra cost. An iron and ironing board, and hairdryers are all provided for your convenience. Linen and towels Bed linen, duvets, and towels (including tea towels) are provided, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Electricity and heating Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of the accommodation. Raleigh Lodge is fitted with central heating, which is controlled by thermostats that can be adjusted to suit your preferences. There is also a very efficient wood-burner in the sitting room to top up the heat in the cooler evenings and give a cosy atmosphere. A basket of logs, kindling and matches will be provided. Other provisions Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits will be in the property for your arrival to welcome you to Raleigh Lodge and enable you to have a hot drink before unpacking the car. Other non-perishable items such as salt, pepper and oil will be provided. Cleaning materials such as washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets/powder and surface cleaner will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided per toilet. Outside the property The terraced garden is to the side of the property and is an outstanding feature of this property. It can be access from the patio or the car parking area. Please note that the garden is not enclosed. Raleigh Lodge is approached along a private driveway which is shared with the Manor next door. The owner keeps her ponies and sheep in the field beside the property, you may see her popping by to check on them from time to time. Parking There is ample car parking beside the property. Dogs Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 3). A supplementary fee of £15 will be added to your invoice per dog. Please do not allow you dogs on the furniture, or into the bedroom end of the property and do not leave them alone in the property at any time. Horses There is a paddock with field shelter beside the property which can be available for guests' horses, but only by prior arrangement. Please contact us for more details.
