Barbican View is a beautifully refurbished, luxury, Grade 2 listed self-catering holiday apartment in the Alnwick conservation area. It takes its name from the absolutely stunning view of the grand Barbican entrance to Alnwick Castle seen from its windows. Barbican View is the ultimate place to stay in Alnwick, especially for those who wish to experience this magical historic castle at close proximity. The apartment is close to the many walks and meadows (including Hume Park) surrounding the castle, but is also less than a five-minute walk from the centre of town, where there are many local shops, gift shops, cafes and tearooms, pubs and restaurants. There is also a market in the town square every week. Barbican View has been awarded 4 Stars Gold by Visit England for excellence in self catering. Sleeping two (plus a baby in a travel cot), the apartment is also dog friendly and welcomes up to two small, well-behaved dogs. There is free on-street parking via a residents' permit which we provide for guests. We offer full-week stays starting Monday or Friday, 3-night weekend breaks starting on Friday, and 4-night midweek breaks starting on Monday. We will try to contact you within the first 24 hours to make sure that all is well. Our housekeeper lives nearby and in case of domestic mishaps we can arrange help as necessary.

About the neighbourhood
As well as having its own attractions - Alnwick Castle ('Hogwarts') and Gardens and Barter Books being the most famous - Alnwick is a perfect central hub for exploring Northumberland. Bamburgh Castle, Cragside House and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle, Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland Heritage Coast and Northumberland National Park are all easily accessible by car. The nearby Northumberland Coast AONB has some of the most unspoilt beaches in the country.
Getting around
Alnmouth is well served by buses up the coast via Craster, Newton-by-the-Sea, Seahouses and Bamburgh, making day trips and walks in the Northumberland Coast AONB very convenient. There are frequent buses to the East Coast main line rail station at Alnmouth, from which you can get trains to Newcastle, Edinburgh, etc. There are also express buses to Newcastle. However, most visitors will prefer the convenience of a car allowing trips inland to the Northumberland National Park, Cragside, Kielder Water, Hadrian's Wall and Newcastle (just under 45 minutes away).
