Orchard Cottage is secluded and set in open countryside adjoining the owners' home. Beyond the cottage garden, the property enjoys panoramic views of the local countryside and the distant Lakeland fells. Thank you for visiting our page. 'We loved the sunny mornings in the cottage and the cosy nights by the fire! You made us feel among friends and we looked forward to returning each evening after the days adventures. You've created a very special environment to which we will certainly return.' I've been visiting Cumbria for years and have stayed in Orchard Cottage several times. It is far and away my favourite place to stay. The cottage is homely and in a stunning location. Whichever window you look out of the view is beautiful. The bed...More

This cottage is in a lovely rural location and perfect for visiting The Lakes, Ulverston and surrounding areas. The cottage is clean and tidy in the main, however the shower room is a let down. This is a very small ‘wet room’ and I have...More

The lost ion want fab, especially as the weather was lovely. Brilliant for a couple, very relaxing and peaceful. Jenny even booked taxis to the wedding we were attending for us. We will recommend the place to others.

This sweet cottage located amongst green fields is the perfect getaway and location to explore the lakes district. Not far from Ulverston it’s well equipped with everything you need. Host Jenny is delightful. A family of three, we enjoyed our stay very much. Highly recommended.

My two friends and I loved our stay at the cottage and left feeling very relaxed. The space is charmingly decorated and is spacious even with three people. The countryside surrounding the cottage is green and beautiful (we were lucky to catch it in spring!),...More

About the neighbourhood
Orchard Cottage is an excellent base for walking, sightseeing or just unwinding. A short drive from the cottage will bring you to the market town of Ulverston, the birthplace of Stan Laurel (of Laurel and Hardy fame). Coniston, Windermere and the Duddon Valley are within 20 minutes drive and the surrounding villages with traditional pubs, quality craft workshops and tearooms have much to offer. The majestic ruins of Furness Abbey should not be missed and lovers of wildlife will be attracted to the nearby animal park and to the nature reserve of Walney Island ...
How to get there
Sat Navs Will get you close with the post code LA12 0TQ but dont always get it spot on. The links and directions below are more exact. If travelling by car, via the M6, turn off at junction 36 signposted Barrow-in-Furness. Follow the A590 towards Barrow-in-Furness. Pass through the town of Ulverston and continue toward Barrow-in-Furness. Turn left off the A590 at Lindal. Signposted Candle Factory. You are 1.5 km away. Follow road past Candle Factory and on past farm on right. Turn left at crossroads. We are located on your left, about 200m after the crossroads (and before you get to a second crossroads).
