Please note that we only rent out our cottages for the following options:- Full week from a Monday or Friday. 3 night weekend of Friday to Monday. 4 night mid-week break of Monday to Friday. The only exceptions are over Christmas and New year. This traditional stone-built 18th barn conversion is the best holiday home in Cartmel and offers a very high standard of accommodation with spectacular views in a peaceful and beautiful location. The house is approached along an easily accessible track, 200 yards off a quiet dead-end road that travels out of the centre of Cartmel Village. SITTING ROOM The house has a large sitting room with seating for 8 people, a roaring log fire, oak beams and a large Samsung flat screen LCD ‘Smart TV’. This lovely light and airy room has 5 windows and is located on the 1st floor to make the most of the spectacular views on both sides of the sitting room. Across the hallway is the large country style kitchen that is fully equipped with everything you’ll need for your luxury holiday. THE KITCHEN The kitchen was hand made by a local craftsman using high quality ‘pippy oak’ cupboards and very high quality granite worktops. The large range cooker had 4 gas burners, a wok burner/flat plate and 2 ovens. There are 2 fridges, a large freezer, large microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. The kitchen also has a table and 4 chairs and lots of oak beams. The main dining room is located next to the kitchen through double glass doors that open out into the room. The dining room has a large solid wood table, chairs for 8 people, a cast iron log fire and oak beams. BEDROOMS Around the corner from the kitchen and dining room is a long corridor where you will find 2 upstairs bedrooms, a large bathroom and further cloakroom with toilet and sink. Both bedrooms have king-sized beds, French Doors opening out onto the sunny veranda and lots of oak beams. The master bedroom is huge and has 2 huge French Doors and a large en-suite bath and shower room. This bathroom can also be accessed from the corridor for the other upstairs bedroom. At the end of the corridor is another flight of stairs leading downstairs to the ground floor. The ground floor has 2 further bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Just like upstairs, 1 of the bedrooms here is huge and has a king sized bed and an en-suite bath and shower room. The 2nd bedroom on this floor has a super king sized bed that can be unzipped and made into 2 single beds (please let us know at the time of booking if this is your requirement). This bedroom has a shower room and toilet right opposite. At the far end of the corridor is the ‘games room’. This cosy room has a large flat screen TV and furniture to relax or plug in you games station away from the rest of the group. There’s also a huge beanbag for chilling out on. The ground floor also hosts a 5th bedroom that but can be rented at an extra cost of £30 per night (this bedroom is locked and not used when not rented separately). This bedroom has a double bed. GARDENS AND PARKING Cartmel Hill has 2 large garden areas. To the rear is a large lawned area only overlooked by the bedrooms, veranda and sitting room. This large garden is totally enclosed and overlooks fields and woods with spectacular views south across the Cartmel Valley, across the bay and out to sea. A large summer house has recently been added to the garden, complete with cushioned chairs, a large wine cooler/fridge, heating, lighting and electric. The garden has a BBQ, a large table and chairs and is a very peaceful and relaxing area to sit and relax or dine al fresco. The front of the property has 2 large parking areas affording space for at least 8 cars, a large lawned area and natural Lakeland rocks, crags and wildflowers. There’s also a small stream that runs down the side of the driveway before disappearing underground. Cartmel Hill is a very special place in a very secluded and relaxing location that is furnished and equipped to the highest standard so that you can holiday in style and relax and unwind. PETS We pride ourselves in offering 1 of the best dog friendly holiday cottages in the Lake District. Dogs are welcome for a small charge of £20 for 1 dog, £30 for 2 dogs. Non pet owners can rest assured that we spend this extra money on additional cleaning so that non pet owners would have no idea a dog has stayed at Cartmel Hill. More

About the neighbourhood
Cartmel Hill is located away from roads in the hills above the gorgeous village of Cartmel in Cumbria. The quiet, peaceful location has absolutely spectacular views sweeping down the valley and out across the vast expanses of Morecambe Bay. The tidal bay usually has 2 high tides a day and when the tide is in the sea views from the house, garden and patio are amazing. This pretty South Lakeland village of Cartmel has several restaurants, 5 pubs, several wonderful cafes, an excellent cheese shop, artisan bakery, a wine bar and shop, a chocolate shop and the world famous Cartmel Village Shop, home to the acclaimed Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding. Cartmel village is also home to L’Enclume, Britain’s best restaurant!
Getting around
WALKS There are 6 footpaths from ‘The Hill’ as it is listed on Ordnance Survey maps. Our favourite walk from the house takes you along the babbling stream called ‘Burns Beck’ and then winds up Howbarrow fell for breath-taking 360 degree views across The Lake District (Cumbria), Yorkshire and across Morecambe Bay to north Lancashire. Even when the tide is out you can see right out to sea with Peel Island and Castle visible on a clear day. This lovely walk takes less than an hour (details are left in the house for you along with plenty of other walks too) Cartmel Valley is a great location for people who love walking. The local fells are not high or too steep and the higher Lake District mountains and lakes are only a short drive away.
