We had a very pleasant stay at this property. Our goal was to hike every day in the White Mountains and the location of the chalet was very convenient to many state parks and National Forest lands – between 30-60 minutes driving time in most cases. Also convenient to restaurants, etc. The neighborhood is very pretty--wooded and quiet. The chalet itself was clean and comfortable. The back deck looks out (through trees) at Cathedral Ledge--a nice place to sit and socialize, weather permitting. Be aware that you must bring your own bed and bathroom linens (which might matter more if you are flying to NH). My suggestion to the owners would be to make that more explicit in the description—for example, I’ve seen some properties state outright in the bedroom description that you should bring your own sheets. The great room on the main level is spacious. It could use more lighting; we moved lamps around to try to get adequate lighting to read by and to work in the kitchen. The four small bedrooms are all on the lower level, partially sub-ground; each has one window, all of which are under the decking. So the bedrooms tend to be dark and ventilation might be an issue in hot weather (not a problem for us, coming at end of Sept.). Fans were provided in each bedroom, though. The heat worked well. The owners let us check in a little early, which we appreciated. Also be aware that there’s an expectation that you do some light cleaning before check out. This is not stated on the online description, although it might be inferred from the fact that there is no cleaning fee, unlike most properties. I did inquire of the owners as to whether professional cleaners also come in, and the answer was yes. All in all, given the overall quality of the property, its location, and its price, it is a good value and deserves 4-4.5 stars.
