Cottage
Built over 150 years ago and originally used as a shop, this gorgeous old building has been lovingly restored and remodelled by the grandson of the original owners Peg & Barry. What was once a ramshackle old building is now a bright modern bungalow home with everything you will need to create special holiday memories.
The Cottage can sleep up to 7 people comfortably in 3 bedrooms. There is one double bedroom, a family bedroom with both a double and a single bed and then the third bedroom has just a double bed. There is one family bathroom with a walk-in shower.

The whole living area is open-plan and encompasses the sitting room, living room, dining area and kitchen. The house is warm and cosy with both a wood burning stove to snuggle up with on a cold winter’s evening and underfloor heating which responds to the outdoor temperature to always keep the house at an ambient temperature.
When you enter the front door, you can see all the way through the house from the porch at the front through the double doors out to the back garden.
The kitchen is really well equipped and have microwave, kettle, toaster, oven and hob as well as fridge and dishwasher. There is a separate utility area with a washer/dryer, clothes horse, iron and ironing board.
There is a lovely garden area ideal for kicking the ball or just relaxing and enjoying the sea air and long Kerry summer evenings. Please note the garden is not enclosed. This might be important to know if bringing a pet. The garage outside is perfect for storing bikes, golf clubs or surf boards and you are welcome to use it during your stay.
The Cottage is up a little lane and there is lots of parking available. You can drive all the way around the house.
Wifi is available to our guests along with Sky TV.
PETS
A well behaved dog is welcome but please mention it at the time of booking so we can let the cleaners know. It is very important to clean up the outside areas after your pet before you leave and to ensure that they be kept in the living areas only, off the furniture and out of the bedrooms. An additional dog charge of €30 euro is payable onsite.
LOCATION
The Cottage is located just 1 mile from Fenit village and only 200 yards from the wonderful Tankard Bar & Restaurant offering stunning views over the bay. The Greenway runs just in front of the house, so it is a great location for cycling and water enthusiasts. Not only this but Tralee Golf Course is just a mile away as is Tralee Cricket Club. Other local places to eat would be the Oyster Tavern and the new Spa Seafoods restaurant. The West End Bar & Restaurant is in Fenit and there is a good children's playground opposite it. Wild Water Adventures in the village runs various water-based activities locally and you may even be lucky enough to see some dolphins out in the bay.
Although you cannot actually see the sea from the Cottage, it is just 200 yards away from you! A great place for a break away with family or friends.Â
BEACHES
Fenit beach is just a mile away and the golden sandy Banna Beach is also just 10 miles away from the Cottage.

Family with young children
Wonderful family holiday.
"Fantastic cottage. The location is 1st class. We spent a lot of time on Banna Strand beach with the children. We also visited Annascaul, the birth place of Tom Crean the great Antartic explorer and drove to Slea Head discovering Coumeenoole beach. Wonderful, as so much to do and when you get back, having The Tankard Restaurant just 5 mins walk from the cottage topped it off. Great food and if you want a few beers or a glass of wine with dinner we didn't have to be concerned about taxis as we could just walk up to the cottage. The garden was fantastic for the children to play football or for us to have a relaxed coffee and read the papers in the morning. After being couped up for so long during Covid it was the ideal location for our 1st staycation! The place was spotless and had everything you need to make the holiday easy and stress free. Ardfert is just 15 minutes drive from the cottage and has Kate Brown's restaurant... another good to place to eat. The cottage was very reasonably priced. Thoroughly recommend if you are planning a visit to Kerry"

Peg and Barry's cottage
Started off bad we were picking the keys up at 16.00hrs ( arranged a week earlier ) the women was 30 minutes late not funny after 16 hours travelling !!!!
The toilet never flushed properly to the extent that we had a blocked toilet supposed to be fixed but wasn't.
The heating never came on , no instructions on how to turn it on.
We cooked a meal of steak my wife tried to cut her steak and the fork snapped the cutlery was only fit for a dolls house.
We have stayed in at least 6 cottages In County Kerry some more than once', this is by far the worse equipped
ie the chopping board is as big as a coaster
the door key is bent frightened that it would snap. The shower does not work properly and is difficult to get water to come out.
DONT BOTHER !!!
