Carsac-Aillac, Sarlat-la-Caneda, Dordogne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Chestnut consists of a refurbished vintage 1974 Castleton caravan alongside a log cabin built from timber from our own woodlands, that houses a large shower room and kitchen/seating area.

Chestnut is situated on the edge of our woodlands with a view of the swimming pool and towards the Dordogne valley. We have lovingly refurbished the caravan with fun retro styling and fixtures and fittings. There is a comfortable double bed in the caravan, and a choice of dining for two inside or out.

Chestnut is so named because of the Chestnut trees that can be found deep in our woodlands and in the wider Dordogne area.

Chestnut has its own private kitchen area in the log cabin immediately adjacent to the caravan, there is a 2-ring gas hob, grill, and a washing up area. Chestnut is fully equipped with all crockery, cutlery and utensils needed and t...

We had a fantastic week's glamping in Chestnut - a 1970's retro caravan with adjoining cabin with cooking facilities. The caravan was beautifully decorated with every detail thought of and backs onto woodland so very peaceful - star spotting at night is awesome! We stayed with friends who rented one of the gites and bell tents. Beautiful pool, which we...

We’ve just arrived home from a blissed out 5 nights at La Blanquette, and couldn’t have asked for a more percent spot to wind down and relax after a few weeks of wedding madness. We stayed in the glamping caravan Chestnut, which enjoys a lovely, secluded spot in the corner of a pretty meadow filled with butterflies. The caravan was...

My daughter and her boyfriend stayed in Chestnut and loved it. We were a large group and they were able to have space and time alone as needed. The caravan was shabby chic cute. Again just like our tent the amenities were set to a high standard and everything required for self catering was available. Again they experienced exceptional personable...

About the neighbourhood
Sarlat is a few kilometres north of the River Dordogne. It is a medieval town that developed around a large Benedictine abbey of Carolingian origin.

Because modern history has largely passed it by, Sarlat has remained preserved and one of the towns most representative of 14th century France. It owes its current status on France's Tentative List for future nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage site to the enthusiasm of writer, resistance fighter and politician André Malraux, who, as Minister of Culture (1960–1969), restored the town and many other sites of historic significance throughout France. The centre of the old town consists of impeccably restored stone buildings and is largely car-free.

Sarlat is a pleasure to walk around, especially during the spring and autumn, or early in...
