If you want to vacation in a small southern town, famous for many things, with loads of adventures in the vicinity, on a quiet street, at a reasonable rate, AND have the whole house to yourself, then this is the place for you. Two blocks from downtown Breaux Bridge and six miles from the Lafayette, LA airport, Josephine’s House is a newly renovated one hundred year old, solid cypress house. The house was totally restored in 2008. We put in central air and heat so everyone will be comfortable. There are two bedrooms, one bath, a den, and a fully usable and equipped kitchen and laundry room. The main bedroom has a Queen bed and the other room two antique twin beds. Both bedrooms and the den have flat screen TVs and ceiling fans. In traditional southern style it has a huge backyard with oak trees and a front porch perfect for rocking and having a relaxing evening. This is a no smoking house and we do not allow pets to be considerate of those with allergies. Within a 2 block walk you can eat at half a dozen places and go to the Cajun Breakfast at Cafe des Amis on Saturday morning. You Can walk to downtown Breaux bridge on the sidewalk from Josephine's House in less than 10 minutes. We are 2 blocks from St. Bernard Catholic Church, numerous restaurants, Joi de Vivre (a coffee shop that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner most days and has free wi-fi), 4-5 antique shops, Cajun Market Donut shop (opens at 4:30am), Bayou Teche and canoe rentals, and many other attractions. If you want to see alligators the Atchafalaya Basin is only 15 minutes away, Lake Martin is about 5 miles. There is always something going on in the area. I am only a short walking distance (10 minutes)from the Crawfish Festival Grounds, which is always held the first full weekend in May.More
