The Mill House is a very special property. It is set at the water's edge overlooking the sea towards Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle - consequently the kitchen, living room and conservatory all enjoy stunning sea views, as do the upstairs bedrooms. Guests love getting up early to enjoy the breath-taking sunrises (you're on holiday - you can go back to bed for a lie in!). At night you can hear the seals on the sandbank midway between us and Holy Island barking to each other. We often see a fox padding along the water's edge too and all year round beautiful seabirds - waders and waterfowl alike - enjoy the shallow waters so close to our windows. In the Autumn we enjoy watching the vast migrat...

This lovely house is right on the water’s edge with breathtaking, ever-changing views across to Holy Island. Glorious sunrises and a wealth of wildlife, the location is blissfully quiet and peaceful. The house is beautiful and very well equipped. There are four excellent ensuite bedrooms, one downstairs, plus a laundry room and a downstairs loo. The kitchen and dining room...

We organized a pre-Christmas getaway for the family at the Mill House. It was perfect - 4 double rooms, all with en suite bathrooms, a large fully equipped and kitted-out kitchen, tastefully furnished dining room, family room/lounge, plus conservatory, scullery with washing machine and tumble dryer, and a downstairs toilet. TV, DVD player, books, guides, binoculars, board games, even decent...

I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Mill House at LIndisfarne Bay Cottages. A pre-Christmas getaway to the cottage must have been so peaceful and relaxing away from the busy towns and cities at this time of year. Thank you for your recommendations too.

A group of seven of us enjoyed a lovely 3 day stay. This is a very well appointed, comfortable spacious house. It is beautifully warm, the bedrooms are very comfortable and the showers are good. The situation, with views across the marshes to Holy Island is stunning. The owner was attentive and keen that we all enjoyed our stay, without...

About the neighbourhood
At the end of a lane, positioned midway between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Bamburgh directly on Northumberland's Heritage Coast, our luxury self-catering holiday cottages are well located for a holiday exploring the ancient Kingdom of Northumbria.

Just a few minutes drive from the cottages (or a walk away for keen walkers) is BEAL CAUSEWAY linking the mainland to Holy Island. This is always an exhilarating trip and once on the island you can explore the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory (English Heritage) or visit iconic Lindisfarne Castle (National Trust). There's a pretty harbour and lovely walks all around the shores (including sandy beaches). In the village itself there is of course a good choice of cafes, pubs and little shops to delay your day further...
