This place has a lots of charming elements and is definitely stage with good taste. It's bright during the day, the deck is very well oriented towards the sun, you hear the waves at night and it's only 3 mn walk to the beach! You have to be careful in the stairs as the carpet is old and sort of slippery. The landlord seems to plan to change it though. The backyard in the back is at the window level, giving you the filling that you are looking at a living piece of art. It's overall a very great place to just relax.

We stayed at this lovely cottage for a short getaway to relax and be near the beach. The house was very well equipped with everything we needed, especially in the kitchen. It is a short walk to the beach and a short drive from some of the best coastline in the San Francisco Bay. Michael was easy to reach and had clear directions and instructions for us to check in and check out. Our only challenge was that parking was a bit challenging during the popular surfing hours, but that was a minimal inconvenience. I highly recommend this place if you need a break from the busy hustle and bustle and want to relax in a cozy place near the coast.

Wonderful old home with great view and location. We really enjoyed waking up to the sunrise over the ocean shining through the bedroom windows. Kitchen was well stocked with tasteful dish ware and very functional. Like others have said the stairs to the upstairs bedroom are tight and a little steep so it may be difficult for someone with limited mobility but was totally fine for us. Would recommend!

We enjoyed the house; it's rather old with all the clunkiness of old houses but the charms compensate for the inconveniences. The only problem we had with it was the lighting, which is extremely inadequate. We were never able to get enough light into the dining room to fully use it and virtually all lights had bulbs with too little wattage to provide sufficient light for reading or even clearly seeing around a room. We often used the flashlight to seek items we couldn't remember the location of. Card games we had planned couldn't be played because of the darkness. Similarly, music and audio books couldn't be played owing to a defective CD player. Despite these issues--I don't want to sound altogether negative--it's a pleasant house and will become more so with additional illumination. A final comment: I was critical above about the check-in process because we had a hard time finding the house and getting the keys out of the box. I appreciate that Bolinas people value their privacy and don't want signs along Hwy 1 indicating where it is, but never having been there and arriving at dusk we had trouble finding the turn-off and then interpreting the directions, which would benefit from more detail. When we finally found the house it was dark and the lockbox combination numbers were virtually illegible even with a flashlight.

I have not yet gotten to stay at this property because the nearby Kincade fire was raging during my dates. I cancelled just a few days before my trip was to start. Michael was kind and understanding and worked with me to get refunded. I look forward to writing a review of his great looking place when I finally get up there!

This property was well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. My husband loves to cook and he was very impressed with what was available, thank you. We were very comfortable. We loved the front deck and looked forward to coffee out on the deck every morning listening to the ocean. Totally peaceful and helped us to rest and get away from work and the craziness of life.

Before I talk about the property itself, I have to comment on Michael, the owner. Our potential stay at his cottage was disrupted by the statewide PG&E power outages that hit California in Oct 2019. Completely on his own, Michael reached out to us and offered a full refund if, in fact, the power was not restored in time for us to enjoy our stay. As it turned out, all we had to do was shift the dates of our trip by a day, which Michael also handled without complaint. His customer service and his commitment to ensuring that we had a great stay in Bolinas were off the charts, and we can't thank him enough for his flexibility and kindness! As for the cottage itself, the photos don't do it justice. It was clean, well stocked, and perfectly located. It's a wonderful quiet refuge, with a very easy walk to the beach or into town. We will absolutely stay there again!

Our family spent a very relaxing two nights at this zen-like retreat. It has a lot of original charm, but enough amenities to make you comfortable - especially in the kitchen. The upstairs bedroom is very cozy, with views of the ocean, and the bed was warm even though it was chilly at night. The location can't be beat; you can walk to Bolinas beach in a couple of minutes, and down to the bookstore, as well as small town. Plenty of hiking to do in the area as well as surfing or beach combing. All in all, a great weekend away from it all. Michael was very easy to communicate with, and provided lots of local tips. We hope we can go back!
