About the neighbourhood
Swallows Rest is situated on a quiet single track lane with many footpaths and green lanes to walk from the property. It is on a working cattle farm and we have also have chickens, sheep and pygmy goats which your children can help feed. There are many beautiful walks in the surrounding area of rolling hills and wooded valleys with mill streams in the valley bottoms. You may spot birds of prey, and sometimes deer, foxes and badgers, depending on the time of day. The nearest village, Horsley, has its own award winning Village Shop run by volunteers and a beautiful and welcoming village pub. Nearby Nailsworth is a busy little market town which has its own Spring festival and Open Studios from many local artists. There are many interesting little independent shops in the town, together wit...
How to get there
From Nailsworth turn off the A46 Bath Road onto the B4058 Horsley Road. When you reach Horsley village, turn right for Downend just past the school sign. At the bottom of the hill as you round the bend turn sharply left up a steep hill to Wallow Green, then when the lane levels out fork right for Shortwood and you will find Fooks Farm on your left.
