A lovely, hospitable place to stay; Ray and his partner we're really welcoming and prepared the most amazing supper and breakfast at short notice. Plenty of information about the local area if you want it too. Recommended.

About the neighbourhood
.OPAL is in the heart of a rural part of Ireland, a small village called Donamon, which is approximately 16km outside of Roscommon Town. This makes it a great location for a peaceful and relaxed stay, whilst enabling guests easy access to the town centre. We are also a short drive from a number of great places to visit. Surrounded by countryside and scenic views, the area is steeped in history. Donamon Castle (only a short walk from OPAL) is one of the oldest inhabited castles in Europe, built in the 12th century and now home to the Divine Word Mission. You are welcome to wander around the grounds free of charge. The River Suck is also located nearby and is a great place to picnic or go fishing.
Getting around
There are no buses, trains etc. to or from Dunamon and you will need some form of transport (car, bike etc.) to get around if you wish to travel further than walking distance.
Access
Car advised
How to get there
If you fly in to Dublin Airport and do not want to hire a car, you can get a train from Dublin Heuston Railway Station to Roscommon Town. You can get a Taxi from Roscommon to Donamon (about 16km). Alternately you can get a coach from the Airport to Athlone and then the train from Athlone Station to Roscommon. If you fly in to Galway Airport you can get a coach from Galway to Roscommon town.
If you fly into Knock Airport there are no easy public transport connections. There is Car Hire available at the airport and the drive should take around an hour.
If you are coming on the ferry as a foot passenger, the best ferry port is Dublin as you can get a train to Roscommon from Dublin.
If you are driving and want directions, please message us.
