The entire property is enclosed with gates at both the road and beach sides. Driving into Casa de Gracia is to enter into your own private piece of serenity and tropical splendor. Aside from the gorgeous beach, Casa de Gracia guests are enveloped is a lush jungle garden of flowers, and fruit trees, including avocado, banana, coconut, and mango. There are also towering almond and cashew trees, and a variety of palms, including majestic King Palms that rise more than 100 feet toward the sky. Geckos, Iguanas and Watusas love our property, as well. It is likely that, while you are on the island and at our property, you will have the joy of seeing them. Geckos are the most frequent visitors. They are good for the environment because they eat insects. They will not bother you and don’t want to be close to you. Make peace with the geckos and enjoy their friendship. Iguanas wander around the property and can be difficult to see because they blend in so well with the plants. Many, are called “Jesus lizards,” because they run on the back legs, and if you see them near the water, they look like they are walking on the water. Watusas are the island rabbits, although they are much larger, mostly brown and usually running when you see them. There are also land crabs. They look just like water crabs but, live in the land. You will notice holes throughout the property where they make their homes. None of these creatures are harmful. They hope the same of us. This spacious home has 3 private bedrooms, plus a loft. One of the bedrooms is a master suite with queen size bed, the other bedrooms also have queen/full size beds. The loft has 2 bunk beds, and a single bed. With this layout, Casa de Gracia is spacious enough for 11 people and cozy enough for just 2. The fully equipped kitchen and living area is an open concept that allows large groups to have plenty of space while entertaining and preparing dinner of freshly caught fish, or lobster. Better yet, have one of the Islanders spoil you with specially prepared local cuisine as you sit on the huge ocean front deck unwinding with a cocktail or glass of wine as the sun peacefully slips into the sea for the night. Or, if you don't feel like cooking, there are two restaurants immediately adjacent to the house, both a barefoot walk down the beach. If solitude or romance is your idea of a memorable vacation, or you just want to unwind after hectic and stress filled weeks back home, then sit back in the living area, watch TV, go online using our wi-fi, or read a book. Of course, there's the hammock on the deck that might call you for a quick nap, or maybe you just want to settle into one of the lounge chairs at the beach as you dangle your feet in the clear, warm water of the Caribbean. Roatan is filled with a rich history, and is a vibrant jungle and beach environment. Choose to snorkel the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world that many consider the finest of its kind, or if scuba diving is your pleasure, Casa de Gracia is two doors down from Blue Island Divers, one of dozens of respected dive centers on the island. Deep sea fishing, parasailing, zip lining, swimming with dolphins, sloth sanctuary, and just about any other activity is a phone call away and can be arranged by our staff. While you're on the Island, take some time to explore its diversity of culture and topography. The very popular West End, filled with enticing restaurants, and bars that are always in full celebration of life, is a short 10 minute drive away, and the far east end of the Island is worth the jaunt to visit the Garifuna community of Punta Gorda, small fishing villages, and the nearly desolate beaches of east coast.
