The Captain Cook is located on Bear Paw's 14-acre homestead property. Access to the building is a private drive that connects with both the Sterling Highway and Camai Road. This is one of 4 unique log buildings offered by Bear Paw Adventure. These buildings are considered unique, even for this picturesque Alaska location, because of the handcrafted style of the buildings, Alaskan furnishings including big game mounts, log furniture and the extent to which the buildings are stocked with supplies. The massive log structures are set among the spruce trees, alders and wildflowers on a 14 acre section of an original Alaska homestead. Guests enjoy comfortable lodging and a sample of real Alaska. Anchor Point is the westernmost point in the North American connected highway system. Driving directions from Anchorage are fairly simple - just take the only road south out of Anchorage (the Seward Highway or Route 1), then continue on Route 1 when it turns right and becomes the Sterling Highway. Follow the Sterling to Anchor Point. Total driving time from Anchorage is about four hours. This is one of the most scenic locations in the world with views of 4 volcanoes across Cook Inlet and rugged peaks and glaciers across Kachemak Bay. The area is known for fantastic scenery and exciting Alaska adventures and known around the world as a fishing hot spot. Tourist License / Licencia de turismo N °: 715850More

We loved staying in the lodge. The place was roomy and beautifully built. The decor was a perfect fit for the house. Situated close enough to Homer but far enough away from the tourist throngs, this place was amazing. Finally saw the resident moose and...More

Four of us stayed for a week. We couldn’t ask for a more comfortable lodge. Log cabin with all the comfort of home. This was our second year of staying at Bear Paw Lodges and we plan to stay here again.

Thank you so much for the comments. When we clean our buildings, our goal includes to get our arriving guests to say "Look how clean this building is!" Great to get your feedback on that. Hope to see you again soon.

Strange that this cabin doesn't have a more prominent position on TripAdvisor. We stayed for two nights in June and it was our first "cabin" of the holiday. I say cabin but it is as big as a house and whilst it has a rustic...More

About the neighbourhood
Bear Paw Adventure is located in a natural, private area, about one mile north of Anchor Point on the west side of the Alaska Kenai Peninsula. This central location is right on top of the best fishing, fantastic scenery and exciting Alaskan Adventures. Four active volcanoes are visible when looking to the west across Cook Inlet. The first-class, unique, real log buildings are partially hidden among the spruce trees and wildflowers. Guests frequently see eagles, moose, ravens and other Alaskan critters from the buildings and the open BBQ decks. Free parking is available at each building and most guests traveling to Alaska fly into Anchorage where they rent a car for the 200-mile, scenic drive to Bear Paw Adventure. The location is convenient to stores, shops and restaurants in nearby A...
Getting around
The best way to get around on the Kenai Peninsula, especially in the Anchor Point area, is by car. Bus service is very limited and the passenger train does not operate in the area. Taxi service is available out of Homer. Having said that, great sightseeing tours are available by boat and by air.
