Manton Lodge Farm is a beautifully-positioned 18th-century stone farmhouse set in more than 100-acres of privately owned rolling grassland in rural Rutland. It nestles in a fold in the landscape and boasts far-reaching views across the Chater valley. The property lies on the edge of Manton village and is a short distance from Rutland Water (1km).

We offer two comfortable and modernized apartments. Each is completely self-contained, can be set up with single beds or as a super-king double, and is accessed via a separate entrance at the side of the property.

Interaction with guests
The apartments are accessed via a private entrance at the side of the house. Guests will be welcomed and shown where to park. Storage/parking is available for bicycles, trailers and we've even had boats. Dogs are welcome by appointment and subject to a deposit. You may see horses or Khiva the labrador. The bird-table on the terrace is a favourite with many guests.

The largest man-made lake in western Europe, Rutland Water has something for everyone. The attractive 3,100 acre reservoir has an international reputation for providing a balance of sport, leisure and wildlife conservation and offers everyone the opportunity to try something new. Please find below links and information on activities and places to visit: Rutland Water Nature Reserve: Information about the reservoir, its habitats, the birdwatching centre, Osprey project, events and various activities. Rutland Water Cycling: Miles of traffic-free pathways on the edge of Rutland Water. There are hire facilities offering everything from mountain bikes, tandems, kids bikes, trailer bikes and buggies. Rutland Water Fly Fishing: Expert flyfishing tuition, guided trips and coaching. Rutland Sailing Club: Windsurfing is really big on Rutland Water! There are a number of regattas each year which attract some of the top professional windsurfers in the country. The place to launch from and hire equipment is Rutland Sailing Club. The Rock Blok: Rutland's premier Outdoor Adventure Centre located on the north shore of Rutland Water. Normanton Church: This fine church was saved during the construction of Rutland Water and is now a museum. Eyebrook Reservoir: Another reservoir nearby which offers excellent trout fishing and is also an area of special scientific interest. Oakham Castle: The splendid Great Hall of Oakham Castle is one of the finest examples of late 12th century domestic architecture in England. Rockingham Castle: Steeped in history this castle provides educational tours, including an audio visual of the 'Castle Under Siege'. Rutland County Museum: Houses a rich rural life collection from Rutland historically England's smallest county. Located in Oakham. Burghley House: One of the finest examples of 16th century architecture and situated beside the medieval coaching town of Stamford. Inside the house has more than one hundred rooms, while outside the Capability Brown designed Deer Park and Gardens, includes the Garden of Surprises, Sculpture Gardens and plays host the famous horse trials.
How to get there
The property is situated on the south-western edge of Manton Village, which lies mid-way between the market towns of Oakham and Uppingham. Access is via Lodge Lane on the western edge of Manton Village. The nearest rail link is at Oakham station, 3 miles away. A bus service operates from Manton village connecting to Oakham with the bus-stop a 5 minute walk from the house and just beyond the limit of the property.
