About the neighbourhood
Chesterfield is famous for its Crooked Spire. Visit the Chesterfield Museum to find out why the spire is twisted. The oldest part of the town, The Shambles, dates back to medieval times and has an interesting mix of shops and cafes. Shoppers love Chesterfields markets (including a Flea Market and a Farmers Market) and the traditional Market Hall, Other nearby places of interest include Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre and the Chesterfield Canal where you can take a trip on a narrowboat. The cottage is located in the hamlet of Overgreen, on the eastern edge of The Peak District. This is a quiet agricultural area. There are walks from the door through the picturesque Linacre Valley with its woods and 3 reservoirs. A very short walk in the other direction takes you to The Gate Inn pub/restauran
Getting around
A car is recommended. Buses and trains run from Chesterfield. There is a countrybus service about 1 miles from the cottage.
