Holiday Rental House
Arthog is a small village very close to the holiday town of Barmouth and within walking distance of Fairbourne. It is a great holiday destination for walkers, bikers, families or people who just like relaxing and watching the view. This cottage is a beautiful 2 bedroom, Grade 2 listed Victorian terrace with lots of lovely original features. These include the original sash windows and a wood burner. We've had the downstairs freshly painted so that it is ready for our 2019 visitors. From the front door, there is a small step into the entrance area and then into the lounge which has a wood burner with a fire guard. This is very cosy during those cooler Welsh months. During the cooler months a fire starter pack is provided and further supplies can be bought at the local shop in Fairbou...Arthog is a small village very close to the holiday town of Barmouth and within walking distance of Fairbourne. During the cooler months a fire starter pack is provided and further supplies can be bought at the local shop in Fairbourne or Dolgellau. It also has a tv and dvd player and a selection of books and games. Heating is via electric storage heaters, they heat up overnight and release the heat during the day. It is important that you leave these on during the day as they will not heat up overnight if you switch them off. Further information is provided in our welcome pack. On your left is the cosy kitchen - diner. It is well equipped for your holiday cooking needs. There are plenty of things like mugs and glasses and enough pans to be able to cook a Sunday roast if you want to. It also has stunning views out to the hills and the Mawddach estuary. If you are lucky then our friendly robin will come and eat from the bird feeder on the window whilst you are cooking. A welcome pack is provided with some of those holiday essentials so you can make a warm drink when you arrive. Upstairs are two well appointed double bedrooms and a newly fitted family bathroom with electric shower over the bath. Both bedrooms have stunning views over towards the estuary. Bedroom two has bunk beds. We have left a selection of kids toys, books, games, DVDs and jigsaws for your enjoyment during your stay. The house also has Wi-Fi. As with a lot of Wales, mobile phone coverage can be patchy due to the hills around. There is a small, secure, enclosed courtyard at the back and across the road there is a private garden which is perfect for relaxing and taking in the views. In the front garden there is a locked shed where you are welcome to store your outdoor gear or bikes. There is a road between the house and the front garden, but we often take food and/or drinks across to the garden and when you are sitting looking over the field to the hills you don't notice the road. If you are feeling energetic then it is a 3 minute walk to the Mawddach estuary trail which runs from Dolgellau right through to Barmouth via the famous estuary bridge. It is perfect for everyone from families with their first bikes to more serious runners and bikers. Mountain bikers will enjoy visiting Coed y Brenin for some of the best mountain biking trails in the country. There is also a great kids play area and a lovely cafe. There are some great opportunities for days out with Fairbourne steam railway only 10 minutes away, Barmouth and Dolgellau are within walking/biking distance or you can get the bus or train if you don't fancy driving. There are plenty of places to relax, drink coffee or eat good food in Fairbourne, Dolgellau or Barmouth. On arrival, you will find that we have left you some of the essentials like tea, coffee, milk, washing up liquid and toilet rolls and a small welcome pack. The beds will be made up, towels, tea towels and even an apron is supplied. Please bring your own beach towels. We've tried to ensure that there is everything you need to make it a relaxing and pleasant holiday experience. Parking for the property is in a layby approximately 100m from the house but you can park outside for loading/unloading. We will take one dog in the property, please message me for more details. It is a non-smoking property. More

Lovely little terraced house, on an incredibly quiet, pretty part of Wales. House well equipped and nicely decorated. Soft bed and plenty of hot water, which after a days walking was very welcome. Ideal spot for hill walking, and not too far from Snowdon for...More

I think it should be more clearly highlighted that the front door opens straight onto the main road and the garden is across this road...not ideal with young children and a dog! The photos show a generous welcome pack of Welsh cakes, bread, milk, wine,...More

About the neighbourhood
Arthog is a quiet village between Dolgellau and Fairbourne. The house is in a row of listed Victorian terraces with views out to the Mawddach estuary.
Getting around
There is a train station at Fairbourne, the Mawddach Estuary and Barmouth. There is a bus stop about 100m from the house. You can walk from the house to Barmouth over the Barmouth bridge and you can walk/cycle on the Mawddach Estuary path to Dolgellau. Asda and Tesco deliver, so you can have car-free days if you want to, but we have found that it is useful to have a car available if you want to explore a bit further afield.
