Mesmerising views of sunsets over the sea, framed by beautiful cliffs. Paces from the sea This house is literally (in the literal sense of 'literally', the proper meaning!) a stones throw from open Atlantic waters; framed by dramatic cliffs and rock pools, guests can enjoy the panoramic views or venture out for walks along the cliffs and strand, complete with inlets and sea stacks, and maybe the odd seal or dolphin. Here is a testimonial from Nuala & Pat Matthews of Dublin; “We had the pleasure of staying in No 9 Diamond Rocks, Kilkee for four weeks this year 2015. The house was a home from home for us. It is fitted out and equipped to a very high standard. We were so pleased with it we have booked again for 2016. The views are super of the Atlantic ocean, Pollock holes, Diamond Rocks, Georges Head and beautiful sunsets. It is a short stroll from the centre of Kilkee.” This substantial property is designed over three levels to take full advantage of the unique views of the sea and cliffs. The house oozes character and charm with bright comfy living spaces. Diamond Rocks can comfortably accommodate a large family, but is equally suited to a one or two person get-away. There is plenty of natural light in all rooms, with mod cons of entertainment in downstairs living room, open fireplace and seating for 7. DVDs available from 'Next Door' Off Licence shop on O'Curry Street. Comfortable second living area with HD TV in open plan attic space, along with mini office area. Main bedroom and attic bedroom both en-suite. WiFi available upon request Storage Heating throughout along with instant heaters in bedrooms. We live in another town for most of the year, but we will be there to let you into the house and collect the keys. Failing that a trusted professional caretaker we have worked with for years will be there to do the same. We are very familiar with the area (have been going there for generations) and we will be happy to answer any questions either in person or over the phone. Kilkee is practically an extra family member for many who go there. The locals are rightly proud of their town, and visitors are often devotees whose families have been going there for generations. The brisk Atlantic breezes regenerate you during the winter (along with the odd chat by the fire in the Greyhound Pub) and there are few pleasures more perfect than strolling barefoot along the road on your way to or from a swim in the Atlantic, surrounded by the natural beauty of the cliffs, rock pools, or beach. Kilkee has a horse-shoe shaped beach, which makes it amongst the safest and most sheltered beaches around for children. The Pollock Holes are also a perfect place for kids to swim while the tide is out. The small rock pools also provide hours of fun for kids looking for crabs or cobblers to inspect/torment. Kilkee is perfect for adventure lovers. The Pollock Holes, Kilkee’s renowned natural rock pools, are a 3 minutes stroll from the house, or when the tide comes in, take a leap off the diving boards in Newfoundout/Newfy, just a minute from the front door. The real adventurers can give NevSail a call and absail down cliffs or kayak/sail/currach around the bay. There are a multitude of breathtaking places to swim/ walk/ jog apart from the safe beach, just ask the locals! The family running the Diamond Rocks Cafe should be able to give you some good tips! About Kilkee Kilkee is located on the Loop Head Peninsula, recently voted by Irish Times readers as the best place to holiday in Ireland. The horse-shoe shaped bay offers excellent walks and a variety of bathing areas on the beach, in natural rock pools, and various rocky coves and inlets, which are sheltered from the strongest forces of the Atlantic. Take a drive to Loophead Lighthouse, The Cliffs of Moher or visit The Long Dock in Carrigaholt for a great seafood lunch. Take in some traditional music in the local pubs or in Miltown Malbay. Have a surf in Doonbeg, Spanish Point or Lahinch. Round off the day in the Greyhound Pub for a quiet pint by the fire. You can get a bus to Kilkee (try Bus Eireann), but having your own car in Ireland makes it a lot easier to explore neighbouring towns. The house is a 10 minute walk (very scenic, along the strand) to the local shops/pubs/off licence/dvd rental/restaurants. There is a cafe two minutes walk from the house but it may be closed off-season. MUSICIANS! If you are a musician, we may be able to provide a guitar for your stay, subject to availability. More
