Sunnybank Experience
Our family of 19 (ages 6 through 73) spent one glorious week in Clifden at the Sunnybank House. The house was spacious, clean and cozy, with plenty of bedrooms and showers for everyone. The beds were very comfortable. We loved all the extra rooms, including the large living room and dining room, as well as a TV room and library. The pool in the back was perfect for the kids. We could all spread out and never felt cramped or on top of each other. The kitchen was our gathering place in the morning as we sipped on our coffee and planned our day. We loved the 2 block walk to town, which boasted plenty of restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and gift shops. The entire family loved the house and location. We've traveled before as a large family, and this vacation was by far the best!

Perfect place for grandchildren of all ages
We wanted a place in western Ireland that could accommodate 8 adults and 10 grandchildren, ages 10 to 23. We were celebrating my 80th birthday, and we needed a place where we could all sit down for dinners in one place. Sunnybank House fit the bill. Since all the rooms have their own bathrooms, there were no issues getting us all ready in the morning to go out on various tours and other activities. The house is very charming with lots of nooks and crannies to relax and enjoy each other's company. The older grandchildren particularly enjoyed the sauna. The house was clean and tidy, and Shane, the owner, gave us a tour of the things we needed to know about the house, including the washer and dryer machines. One thing a prospective renter should know is that the house sits on a hill and the actual town, while very near, is down below. I have some back issues, so I had to limit myself to one trip down the hill per day. The rest of the family, however, had no problem popping down the hill to visit the grocery store or the pubs and restaurants whenever they wanted. My wife and I have been to Ireland before, and we know how unpredictable the weather can be. We had rain every day, but we also had periods of sunshine every day. That's just Ireland. The temperature rose to around 62 degrees everyday we were there. That was a nice respite from the 95 degree weather we were having back home. Our 7 days at Sunnybank House was something we will all remember for the rest of our lives--very happy memories.

The best house
Just back from a 3-night stay at Sunnybank to celebrate my 40th birthday with 12 close friends. Wow, what a venue. The house is just amazing, all bedrooms are well appointed and all en-suite, the dining and lounge rooms were perfect for entertaining and the kitchen is perfectly equipped for hosting. The pool area is just amazing and we even had a little swim in April as the pool was heating up. Shane was a consummate host and the team in Guys Bar made sure we were fed and watered! Highly highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing experience, couldn’t fault a thing.
I booked this for my sisters Hen party last weekend. The check in was smooth, the house was amazing, the facilities are top and the space is great for a good shindig. The dining room was great we were able to all sit and have dinner together, the kitchen facilities were amazing and I cooked for 20 people in it with everything you need. The glass washer and ice machine were a big bonus as it made the place very early to clean! They have everything you need. Shane gave us a good introduction and showed us the ins and out of the house. I really couldn’t fault a thing and we all had the best weekend ever. I would definitely recommend for big groups or families. We didn’t use the outdoors much due to storm Kathleen but it’s a great facility and would love to come back in better weather. It is in the town so takes the hassle out of taxis. The welcome basket was also a very nice touch. Thanks again folks. Fantastic from start to finish.

An excellent spot for a large group getaway
We stayed in Sunnybank house for a family celebration recently. We had three generations including a 13 month old toddler, and we all had an amazing time. The house was really well equipped with everything you could want, including games and toys for the younger members of the family. The outdoor space is wonderful and, even though the pool wasn’t open at this time of year, we enjoyed the heated seating area and made good use of the barbecue. The bedrooms felt really luxurious and everyone appreciated that each room had its own en-suite. We would happily recommend it as a place to stay and are leaving with wonderful memories of a great weekend.

Home away from Home only Better!
Something for everyone. We had ages 22 to 92 and everything in between for a perfect family and friends trip. Living Room, tv room and library offer great gathering spaces complete with peat fireplaces. Of course everyone ends up in the Kitchen -especially this one - it is spectacular and right outside the kitchen door is where the “grill masters” did their work surrounded by beds of fresh herbs to enhance the meal. Our group made good use of the pool, sauna and outdoor seating for sunrise morning coffee or sunset happy hour. For private retreat you couldn’t ask for more wonderful sanctuaries than the ensuite bedrooms. Quiet, comfortable and restful. All ages loved the Sunnybank experience!

Perfect Home Base for the Connemara Experience
Shane is a wonderful host. We were a group of 18 ranging in age from 7 to 65 and we were all thrilled. Fresh and clean. The beds were super comfortable. TV room for the wee ones in the eve with a peat fire in the reading parlour for the adults with books. This is a perfect setting for extended families. The kitchen is very well appointed with all you could need and the 18 seat dining room! Lovely. So close to the town for food and the other Irish food group - Guinness. The The 5 minute walk to restaurants when not cooking in - or for the post dinner pint and live music - is priceless. And the pool and sauna after a day of hill waling in the Connemara...well we really could not have asked for better.
