Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Probably one of the best views in the Southwest of Ireland!
Anyone who stays at Wheatfield has found a hidden gem. All you need is a good bottle of wine and enjoy the spectacular view. It is a good base for exploring the Beara Peninsula and Ring of Kerry and good eating places and shops are a short drive away.

Zeer mooi huis.

The views were spectacular and our host Martin very helpful and friendly
This was a very spacious house with spectacular views in lots of land to walk in. The animals were a treat to see each day. Very quiet down a very very long track which was difficult in the dark for my partner and in the rain quite hazzardess. Martin our host was very friendly and helpful. No welcome pack was disappointing as all comms Ive used have had one so far going back years. Not one carpet or non-slip mat esp in the bedroom was quite dangerous to someone like myself who is partially disabled as all the floors were very slippery. The utensils in the kitchen were lacking esp the saucepans and everyday utensils were very old and worn and need replacing. But having said this the accom was lovely and spacious and clean.

Peacefull Landscape
Fantastic house with views to Ring of Beara sea entrance. Landlord nice and helpful. House very spacious with lots of day light. Central heating if need it heats up quickly. Showers with pressure. Kitchen equipment a little old but enough. Excursions near by but car is a must as walking downhill is long distance to the road and you have to make your way back uphill. Kenmare is a fancy village with good shopping and Pub food. Great excursions by road, recommended the drive to Glengarrif, and the ring of Beara and Kerry as far as Killarney. Lovely part of Ireland.

Beautiful View!
We stayed a month in Wheatfield and loved it. The owners were very helpful and always ready to answer any questions. It's a little bit out of town, but we enjoyed being in "the country". Kenmare Bay was indeed a sight to behold every day. The flowers were beautiful, even though it was the fall of the year. Great weather and very little rain. Close to Ring of Kerry and on the Beara Peninsula. Pasha the dog was a great addition and greeted us every evening on our return home. I highly recommend Wheatfield.

With the most breathtaking view in the world, it's hard to tear yourself away
I can't recommend Wheatfield highly enough - we had an incredible stay, and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. The house offers stunning views of the Kenmare Bay, plus its amazing location nestled in the hillside means you're right in amongst the scenery yourself. A haven for walkers and wildlife, it's also a fantastic spot for just curling up in front of the windows with a book and a bottle of wine! It's got everything you could need for all weathers, from the picnic bench outside to the wood-burning stove inside. Plus cosy beds and plenty of hot water... the only drawback is paying for the gas at the end of the week - our heating bill in January was pretty high! Wheatfield would be fantastic for a full-on family holiday, but we had a great time just relaxing the two of us... however, we're already making plans to visit again. There's so much to see and do, from exploring Kenmare itself (and its many welcoming bars) to checking out the Ring of Kerry. A genuinely fantastic trip, all thanks to the Veldhoen family and this incredible house they've built. See it for yourselves!

About the neighbourhood
Wheatfield is situated on the Ring of Beara, 10km from the heritage town of Kenmare. Nearby attractions include Dereen Gardens, Gleninchaquin Waterfall, Star Sailing and Outdoor Adventure Centre. There is horse riding nearby and sailing and diving in Killmacillogue Harbour. There is excellent fishing, river lake and sea.
Getting around
A Car/motorbike is a must imo with the house about 2km of the main road and very limited public transport in the area. Would not advise to come to this property without one. *Cycling might be an option bearing in mind there is a 2km uphill trek 2 the house with a steap gradient. Might need to walk the bike up for some parts.
