About the neighbourhood
Pretty countryside with many wayside chapels on ancient routes to Compostella in Spain. Argenton Les Vallees is an ancient small town with river and a lake excellent for walks. Bressuire boasts a fine chateau with art exhibitions and riverside walk, and is home to an international Highland games event. A new centre, the Bocapole, stages shows and diverse entertainments, a cinema and bowling alley. There are several cinemas and theatres and many local fairs, markets, music events and restaurants. Thouars, Samaur, Cholet & Niort have large markets and museums. Locally there is bowling, canoeing, swimming, riding and tennis. Private fishing on our own stretch of the Argenton with use of a rowing boat.
Getting around
We are out in the sticks surrounded by beautiful countryside, with the lovely river Argenton running through our grounds. You can walk or cycle to the nearest village's and restaurant/bars. There is also an old disused train track now a cycle route going into Bressuire and Nuiel Les Aubiers. It is advisable to have a car at your disposal if you wish to travel around the area as there are no bus's or trains in our village (St Clementin) The nearest are at Bressuire approx. 15km away.
