Built in 2003 the property and stunning local area, offers all that the two and four legged members of your family could want for a memorable break away. Located just outside the West Yorkshire village of Marsden, 'The Old Woodyard' offers the perfect bolt hole to get away from it all. The vista to the front offers unrivalled views of the Huddersfield narrow canal, and the nearby Sparth reservoir. This ever changing landscape can be best enjoyed from the first floor viewing platform, or alternatively whilst enjoying a pre-dinner stroll through our very own apple orchard. Your dogs won't be the only four legged animals on the property, so please feel free to say hello to the three horses that we presently have on site, in our purpose built stables and paddock. Once inside of the house the large glass windows at the front bathes the property in natural light, and welcome you to the house. The spacious family kitchen comes complete with Island unit, dishwasher and all of the appliances / utensils to compliment any budding Gordon Ramsay. The room also boasts a ten seater dining table in front of a log burning fire, to maximise the dining experience whatever the weather. The ground floor inner hallway leads you to the master bedroom, complete with it's super king sized bed, built in wardrobe and en-suite shower room. Across the hallway is a further double bedroom, featuring another king sized bed with wardrobe and shower en-suite. Further along this hallway you will find the downstairs WC / cloakroom, before coming to the lounge. This space offers the perfect sanctuary to relax those weary legs after a long day on the fells. Offering luxury leather settees and lazy boy armchairs, you can sprawl out in front of the 'The Old Woodyard's' second wood burning fire. Unwind here whilst reading one of the many books that we offer to guests, play a board game with the family or simply kick back and catch up with an episode of Emmerdale. Underfloor heating is present here, along with the rest of the ground floor, ensuring that you will still be warm on the coldest of nights. The French doors in this room lead to the outside terrace, featuring our 6 seater hot tub. Here you can while the night away with a glass of wine, whilst enjoying the invigorating massage jets and ever changing lighting, making this a holiday to remember (under 16's to be supervised at all times by a responsible adult, and not permitted for anyone who is pregnant or with certain medical conditions). The first floor boasts a further 3 bedrooms, with versatile accommodation depending on the dynamic of your group. There are two spacious double / twin bedrooms with zip and link mattresses adorning both a king sized and super king sized bed, to suit your circumstances (please advise us in advance of your preference). The other bedroom is a twin room with two single beds, ideal for the younger members of the family. From this room there is a viewing platform, from where you can enjoy the rear of the property and gardens. The luxury family bathroom complete with underfloor heating, has both a bath and integrated shower and offers a perfect spot to soak and unwind (locally sourced soaps and shower gel available at an extra cost). The viewing platform from the first floor landing really brings the outside-in, and the place that you will want to have your morning cuppa or evening gin and tonic. 'Stay at The Old Woodyard, and The Old Woodyard will stay with you'. Nb:- There is a railway line at the rear of the property, although this is screened by the tree line occasional noise will be heard. The local area 'The Old Woodyard' serves as a fantastic base to explore the best that West Yorkshire, and the nearby Peak District Natonal Park has to offer. If you are a stranger to the area, Marsden is most well known for being the backdrop for ITV's 'Where the heart is', and nearby Holmfirth for the iconic series 'Last of the summer wine'. Whether you are into lazy walks along the canal, or more energetic hikes around the local hills and reservoirs.......Marsden, has it all. For the cyclist why not try a stage of the Tour De France or the Tour of Yorkshire. Marsden offers several excellent local restaurants, which you can try along with an array of locally sourced real ales. Nearby Holmfirth is the place to visit for a cosmopolitan night out. If you are staying in, there are several local takeaways that can also be enjoyed. Alternatively regular rail services are available from the village to explore Huddersfield, Leeds, Manchester and beyond. Come and visit us, and be sure of a 'great big' Yorkshire welcome. More
