Isla Saboga is a nature lover's paradise. Unspoiled beaches and tropical jungle only 35 miles from Panama City, at the gateway to the Pearl Islands. If you can imagine what Hawaii must have been like 100 years ago, before all the development during the 20th century, you can perhaps begin to appreciate what Isla Saboga and the Pearl Islands has to offer. It is perhaps one of the world's last unspoiled archipelagos, and the fact that it is only 35 miles from vibrant Panama City makes it even more special. Our home is part of the El Encanto beach development, an eco-friendly grouping of tree-top villas overlooking the beaches on the west side of Isla Saboga. El Encanto has a palapa-style restaurant on the beach, which supplies kayaks, beach chairs and umbrellas, and also coordinates activities such as fishing and sailing for guests. Our Green Parrot studio apartment is located beneath our main house, and is a hotel-room sized unit with a king bed and an additional queen sofa bed to accommodate up to 4 guests. It has a well equipped kitchen, flat screen TV with USB port and satellite connection, and fully tiled bath. The apartment has air conditioning and a ceiling fan as well for those few days when the sea breeze lies down. A concrete patio with patio furniture overlooks the beach only 75 feet away. Our Flipkey listing is for the studio apartment, but if your party is larger than 4, we do have 2 additional bedrooms available at an extra cost. Please inquire if you need more space than the studio apartment. A 1 hour and 45 minute ferry ride from the Trump Tower brings you directly to the dock on Saboga, where we will meet you and bring you back to the house For US TV history buffs, the 7th season of 'Survivor' was filmed here on Saboga, and two additional seasons were shot here in the Pearl Islands as well. 'Survivor' is now an international franchise, and Turkey has just completed filming its own 'Survivor' on neighboring Mogo Mogo island. Whale watching is a favorite activity during the months of July through October, when the humpback whales from Antarctica migrate here to the Bay of Panama to give birth to their calves and escape the cold Antarctic winter. Whales are regularly observed directly from shore, and you can hire a boat to get an even closer look. The Panama Whale Watching Tours operates out of neighboring Contadora, and offers daily tours from June through September. Please note - if your party is larger than 4 people, FlipKey''s pricing matrix will be incorrect. Our listing here is for our Green Parrot Studio Apartments on the lower level of the house. The studio apartment will sleep 4 maximum. Larger parties will need one or both of our upper bedroom suites as well. Please contact us for a quote if you need the additional space. * Breakfast is not included More

Our second visit to Saboga and El Remanso. We were a bit concerned that visiting over New Year the beaches would be overrun with holidaymakers, but we needn't have worried, the island was still beautifully quiet and empty. Stayed in the upstairs Eagle and Hummingbird...More

About the neighbourhood
Isla Saboga is an undeveloped island in the bay of Panama, just 35 miles from Panama City. Dozens of secluded, deserted beaches and miles of trails through the tropical jungle are here to explore. Or you can just relax on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Saboga was the filming location for three seasons of CBS's Survivor TV series, and it retains all the beauty and natural environment. If you can imagine what Hawaii must have been like 100 years ago, Saboga and the Pearl Islands will give you a hint.
Getting around
Most transportation on the island is by foot. There are numerous trails and dirt roads that lead to secluded beaches to explore, and the village on the other side of the island is only a 10 minute walk away. We have a couple of Polaris 4-wheelers and are happy to run guests over to town for a quick trip, or to show you the island. Most other transportation is by panga, the small fishing boats that the locals use to take guests fishing, snorkeling, whale watching or island hopping. We have several pangueros we use and are happy to help arrange trips. Pangas can come pick you up at the beach directly in front of the house.
