About the neighbourhood
The village and commune of Massugas is set amongst the vineyards of the Bordeaux region. The village has its own lake set in an attractive picnic area where locals and visitors can fish for free. Every weekend there is usually one of the local villages en fete which are fun to join in with and really experience the local culture and food. There are plenty of restaurants nearby to suit all budgets and tastes. Local vignerons including organic wine producers are happy to offer visits and tastings. Most weekends in the spring and summer there are vide greniers and brocantes (car boot/antique fairs). A good way to spend a Sunday morning is looking for a bargain! An outdoor re-enactment of the last battle of the Hundred Years' War is held every summer in Castillion de la Bataille, reall...
Getting around
A car is essential for your stay at Guillemassot. In the town of Ste Foy La Grande (approx 15 minutes away) there is a train station which routes into Bordeaux, Libourne and Bergerac. There is a park and ride system for visits into Bordeaux. We have some bikes (no helmuts supplied). Great for fun around the quiet roads or picking up the morning croissants from either Gensac or Pellegrue. The nearest airports are in Bordeaux and Bergerac.
