Holiday Rental House
Gite des Forges is a renovated old farm building set on a quiet lane, yet only 500 metres from the centre of the pretty town of Angles, with its 11th century church and busy shops and restaurants. There is even a local wine merchant next door, so you can taste many of the locally produced wines. The gite has been sympathetically restored and has many original beams on show. There is a south facing garden where you can catch the sun's rays all day and there are sun loungers and patio furniture for your use! The house is only a 10 minute drive from the beaches of The Vendee, and is a great area for walking and cycling. The local area is a haven for wildlife - with lots of migratory birds visiting the Wetlands nearby. The main attraction of this area is the beach - with Les Conches being the closest and great for surfing and body boarding. For the less adventurous, there is La Tranche sur Mer or Le Veillon, where the long sandy beaches are great for sand castles or relaxing! There are lots of other attractions in the area - such as karting tracks, neolithic dolmens, a château with a Priate Treasure trail in the garden and the Indian Forest for climbing through the trees, and racing across a lake on a zip wire!More

Many thanks for your great review! I'm not sure what has happened to the wine glasses, as there were some at the beginning of the season!

We really enjoyed our stay. The Gite is equipped to a good standard particularly the kitchen. The outside seating area has a wonderful Mediterranean feel to it and the off road parking area is very useful. The wi-fi and TV facilities were very good too....More

Additional amenities & feature info
This renovated house is a great base for a family holiday. It has everything that you would need to make your stay enjoyable and is set in a lovely little town that holds regular events throughout the summer months. The gite is set on one level, so would be suitable for guests with limited mobility and is within walking distance to local shops and restaurants. There are two bedrooms and a shower room with a separate WC. Inside, there is an open plan living and kitchen area with newly installed fitted kitchen and large dining table. There is a TV with UK free-to-air channels and DVD player and the kitchen is fully equipped with induction hob, built-in oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and kettle, toaster & coffee maker. There is a washing machine in the shower room. Wi-Fi is available in the house. Along the hallway, there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with 3 single beds - all are light and airy and cool in the summer months due to the thick stone walls. Bed linens are provided for each bed, but please bring your own towels and beach towels.

About the neighbourhood
The town of Angles dates back to the 11th Century, and still has its old church and Castle tower (Moricq). There are approximately 1600 inhabitants and in the centre you will find several shops - bakeries, butcher, fishmonger, florist, banks, bars, restaurants and a twice-weekly market, plus many fêtes and festivals throughout the summer months. The house is set in a quiet lane with a Wine Cave (cellar) next door - the owner is very friendly and may invite you in to sample the local wines! The area is very flat, so is ideal for walking and cycling holidays and the surrounding countryside is very picturesque with many canals, rivers and reclaimed marshlands - teeming with wildlife and a haven for migrating birds. There are over 20 miles of sandy beaches nearby where you can surf, body-bo...
