For the less active it is an ideal central location for visiting all the major attractions in Derbyshire including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Buxton Opera House, Bakewell, Lathkill Dale and all the numerous picturesque villages in the area. The area around Brushfield has been farmed since Neolithic times. Middle Farm was formerly a tenanted holding under the Duke of Devonshire's Chatsworth Estate. About the neighbourhood
Brushfield is in an ideal location in the heart of the White Peak – the limestone area of the Peak National Park. The towns of Buxton and Bakewell are only about ten minutes drive away and each offers excellent facilities with its own unique atmosphere. There are many excellent picturesque walks from the doorstep. Monsal Dale, with its famous trail, Millers Dale and High Dale are only a short walk away. Walkers can enjoy spectacular views and the opportunity to observe an abundance of wild flowers, animals and bird life. Middle Farm Holiday Cottages provides a good all year round base for a full range of activities including; rock climbing, caving, horse riding, gliding, fishing, mountain biking, golf and swimming.
Getting around
Ashford in the Water, just down the road from Brushfield, is a delightful traditional Derbyshire village with all the basic amenities including post office, village store / delicatessen, hotel, restaurant and public house. Enjoy a stroll by the river and across the Sheepwash bridge and be sure to visit the beautiful Church which dates back hundreds of years. Bakewell, capital of the Peak District is only a few miles away. Agriculture is still the basic activity and the Monday cattle market is one of the largest in the country. It is an attractive market town, so pop in for lunch, take a walk by the river, visit the Bakewell Pudding shop or do a little shopping, it’s well worth a visit!
