There are numerous things to do in the area and the cottage is perfectly situated for those who love watersports.. There is no shortage of activities from swimming, skiing, canoeing, pedaloes, fishing. It is possible to bring your speedboat with you! There are at least 5 restaurants around the lake, 3 of these are within 1km walk of the cottage. There is a cycle track accessible, 500m behind the cottage. Guests could also bring their speedboat as water-skiing is allowed on the lake (the French champion) used to train here. Also in the area, horse riding, fishing, quad bike hire and for the less energetic, plenty of wonderful cafes and restaurants to watch these from! Mur de Bretagne is a charming town only a ten minute drive away and here there are supermarkets, shops, restaurants, markets, banks, post office and church and of course the wonderful boulangeries for delicious bread and patisseries! You can also walk or cycle into Mur de Bretagne along the cycle track close to the cottage which was once a rural railway line. It goes for about 15 km to Mur de Bretagne in one direction and 45 km in the other direction to Carhaix. The Nantes-Brest canal is about 2 miles away (it runs into and out of the lake). The tow path is flat and suitable for walking and cycling. Not far from the cottage is picturesque Bon Repos. The Abbey, situated at the side of canalis worth a visit. Every Sunday from May to October there is an artisan's market here. Also a couple of bars and a creperie. Each August, for two weeks, a spectacular 'Son et Lumiere' is performed after dark. This is not to be missed! Pontivy, about 25 minutes drive away, is a beautiful market town. A market is held each Monday, throughout the year. There is also a chateau in the town and numerous eating and drinking places. Also three large supermarkets. About an hour away is the medieval town of Josselin with its magnificent, perfectly preserved chateau overlooking the canal. Many eating places can be found in the popular cobbled square. A thriving Saturday market with local produce is worth a visit. BRITTANY REGION Brittany offers a wealth of varied landscapes - beautiful sandy beaches, deep forests and medieval towns. The cottage consists of: Two bedrooms upstairs; one large double bedroom and a further bedroom to sleep three.
