This large, light and cool 2 bedroom apartment (with additional double sofa-bed in our sejour) in central Nice (Musiciens district) is a spectacular, renovated fusion of ancient and modern with very high ceilings (up to 4m), windows on two sides (southwest and north) and a large sunny balcony. In a historic, decorative edifice built in 1880 in the style of a Roman Palazzo, the apartment is on the 3rd floor (equal to 4th floor in most other Nice blocks), has a fine lobby, marble staircase and lift. It’s situated near to Jean-Medecin’s trams (but not near enough to hear the endless ding-ding!) and an easy walk to the new Tram 2 to the airport as well as Nice main rail station (Gare Thiers) for trips along the coast to Cannes, Antibes, Villefranche, Monaco, Italy and so on. Place Massena and the Paillon/Coulis Vert is 10 minutes walk. The two main bedrooms are furnished with a teak four-poster bed and mega-bamboo bed. The master bedroom has an ensuite shower room and a 4m ceiling with a magnificent faded mural. The sejour (living/dining room) is furnished with a double sofa bed and TV. The sejour and bedrooms enjoy central air-conditioning. Apart from the master shower room, there is a large bathroom with shower stall, bath, clothes washing machine + drier. The kitchen is massive, with plenty of work surfaces and appliances such as induction hob, eye-level oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. The kitchen leads into the sejour via a huge, raw stone gateway. The central area of the flat is floored in oak, while the remaining rooms maintain the original tomette tiling. The living/dining area is furnished with an extendable 6-seater glass table, a modern Danish sideboard and a conversation area with black leather sofas and double sofa-bed. The TV is connected to an Apple TV box for access to Netflix/Prime/movies, music, English news channels/cartoons etc. The room opens onto a balcony via two high double glass doors. Nearest supermarket is very convenient: Monop is 1.5 minutes away and open till midnight); many restaurants offering worldwide cuisines can be found within 1 minute (including a highly rated pizzeria/fish restaurant directly below us). And by the way, this is our home, not just a holiday rental investment, so it's well organised, fully equipped and furnished with style and quality. Interaction with guests
We may or may not meet guests to hand over keys. We have a studio nearby so it's convenient but whether we are there or not depends on our travel plans. We love to meet guests and explain how to enjoy the flat and the area best but our presence is random. Festivals however, such as Nice Carnaval/Boat Show/Foire Internationale in February-March, we'll be there to meet you!

About the neighbourhood
This part of Nice Centre/Musiciens is has masses of restaurants and shops very near by. In fact there's an excellent pizza/fish restaurant directly below us. Jean-Medecin, Nice's premier shopping street is 50 metres away, and the tram station too, so taking a quick tram ride (for 1 euro if you buy a book of ten) to get to the Vielle Ville, Place Massena/Paillon or Promenade des Anglais beaches is easy. That being said the beaches are only 15 minutes walk from here.
Getting around
Inner city trams are cheap - buy a 10 pass book for 10 euros. For exploring the region via rail - e.g. Monaco, Antibes, Cannes, Grasse, Italy - Gare Thiers is just 5 minutes walk away. Lovely Eze hilltop village is only accessible by bus or car. Tram 1 (old) runs usefully between Gare Thiers - Nice Old Town++ Tram 2 runs Port to Airport via Jean Medecin, 7mins walk from us according to Google.
