A cot and highchair can always be provided, and there are plenty of toys and DVDs to keep children occupied. Electric storage heaters and an open fire ensure a cosy and tranquil haven at the end of a day's touring the surrounding counties, Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny and Carlow. The name “Kirby's” came about because the initials WK are to be seen carved in a stone at the back of the house. ( William Kirby came to Fruit Hill House as head gardener in the early 1900?s, and eventually, by a twist of fate, came to own the property; he reared 10 children here ).The Devane family has been welcoming visitors from all over the world to Fruit Hill since 2002, and Susan or Richard are always available if help or advice is needed. They can arrange for a reliable babysitter if required.Washing machine and tumble dryer are housed in a separate laundry building. An initial supply of fuel for the fire is provided in the welcome pack.

This is the perfect little getaway cottage, it is absolutely charming with it's traditional Irish feel and lovely high ceilings and coal fire. We absolutely loved our stay there and I could have stayed on forever. You have all the comforts including wi-fi! You have large, glorious windows that fill with sunshine and overlook a pasture and it is the epitome of peaceful. You are only a couple of miles from Campile a lovely little village. Make sure you visit Hart's for an evening out with its fab local characters and Declan at the bar you will have a delightful time.
The cottage is a perfect base for tooting around the countryside. We visited Kilkenny, the castle and lovely craft shops as well as a visit to Waterford. The Christmas markets were on and it was wonderful. There is also Wexford and you are not far from Cork. Honestly, a perfect base!
Your hosts are lovely and know the area well and will keep you right for sightseeing, shopping or a meal. We are definitely returning and look forward to staying here again!

Beautiful country retreat
The cottage is charming, spacious and beautifully furnished with everything you need. The owners are friendly and very helpful. We had a warm welcome when we arrived. Fruithill is in a lovely farm land setting and within easy reach of local amenities and attractions--centrally located for different counties and towns.
